Try Age of Kings from Ensemble Studios.
If you are interested in more "realistic" aspects of Warcraft ( like medieval warfare etc ) as opposed to mages and flying beasts then this is what Warcraft 3 should have been.
Hardly, Age of Kings and extension packs from Ensemble Studios are still ( 2 years after release !!!) on 10 top selling titles list.
Of course, it is one of the best games ever created by even then its commercial lifespan is simply amazing.
When running program under VM ( or other interpreter) there always will be associated cost as compared to running pure ASM code.
The fact that this VM can perform certain runtime optimizations, which obviously cannot be done with static ASM code, does not mean that resulting increase in performance, will outweigh costs of having VM in the first place.
"Of course all of this depends on having a truly independent electoral commission and standardized ballots...neither of which the US has"
What the fuck are you talking about ? Please, some examples ?
The last election was a close one and I am sure you would have as much problems up there in Canada if who was your next head of the state was decided with 500 votes.
"Gore won in the cities and states with the best-educated voters. Uneducated yahoos in the bible belt preferred Bush. "
So what ? You leftists are claiming to be so advanced and liberal yet have the same old tendency of ignoring input of people who you THINK are less inteligent than you are.
That would be SOMETHING. I sincerely believe, in the long term, Apple would be better of with BEOS instead of BSD variant.
BeOS was simply better suited for the kind of market Apple is aiming for.
This is X issue not KDE.
The only thing you can do is to get yourself better X server like AcceleratedX.
It is almost as fast as Win32 GDI ( not quite but much better than XFree)
Don't blame them.
Public educational system is nothing but a disaster, concentrating on producing PC kids instead of simply taking care of basic education.
Hehe... I must be lucky cause before I got Radeon I had Voodoo 3000 which, again, worked flawlesly.
On the other hand I had my share of problems with Athlons running hot like hell and fried my first Athlon 1.0 Ghz.
I guess that evens things out..
I own Radeon 64 and I am yet to see single ATI related crash ( running on Widows 2000)

ATi Radeon 8500

I have Radeon 64 running on VIA KT - something board with Athlon 1.1 Gz..
No problems with Windows ( running beta "optimized" drivers")
and no problems with Linux ( running AcceleratedX 6.0 - extrememly fast )
Maybe I am just lucky.
Japanese blades were not superior to European ones.
Actually, if used against typical Europan warrior from middle ages they would be near useless since theu were NOT designed as weapon against anyone wearing heavy armor.
"At the beginning of WWII I think the ratio of armored personnel to non-armor in armor/mech units was something like 2:5. By the end it was 1:10, "
Yeah but in World War II Online the ratio is more like 10/2 in favour of armor.
Ussually you see tons of tanks battling each other in outskirts of a town and then you have one Opel comming in with 2-3 infantry to take over
spawning points.
Very unrealistic and frankly boring for somebody playing as an infantry unit.
Don't get me wrong. I love the game when I actually get to see enemy and join some infantry fights but it happens so rarely..
The concept is great but execution is far from perfect.
I have been playing infantry soldier for the last couple of weeks and I had 2, possibly 3 encounters with enemy infantry.
The whole game is dominated by tanks, hardly any infantry in sight. If they don't fix that then this will end up being cheap tank simulator...
I don't know any corporate Linux users ( beside technical folks ) but privately all the people I know who are running Linux ( around 10 ) are using KDE.
For most of them the first thing they do on fresh system is to install KDE.
"heck I'm still playing warcraft2! "

Only if given optimization outweights costs of having runtime VM in the first place.

Why would I care ? ...
I don't play HalfLife
I do play Quake 3 and my frame rate there ( with everything set to high) is great.

Don't blame them.

Looking at the above reponses it is clear you were talking out of your ass.
People have no fucking shame these days.
I was just kidding.
I have no reason to doubt your technicall skills.

You are right.

Windows is much better for playing games.
"Also, consider that our leader, CmdrTaco, "
I hope you are kidding here
Hell, looks like your AI wasn't grading good enough for people to actually want to spend money on your product.
"Yes, it requires a change in the business model."
...
Sure, and switch to completely unproved model where no company made it big.
A bit of a strech for most people
Well, then I am sorry for your employer since obviously you are more interested in social agendas than technical excellence.

Well, they still lost they entire empire to a bunch of tired Spanish soldiers.
I find that much more interesting
