Perhaps if you are signing up for this service then you may need to specify your systems availability and connection speed and time zone - times where system available. Those with high availability would be first to have distributed real time processing. Others would have access to batch processing type jobs. If you fail to meet certain requirements after job assignments it would keep track and apply modifires next time you're in the queue.
It may well be they are just trying to get some free publicity - and what is better than being slapped with a cease and desist by Google.
YES! - I read the entire bloody article.

- Democratic human history is short and unromantic. - People like romanticism because it is simple, Good(TM) versus Evil(TM) - Enjoy works of fantasy as works of fantasy. - Don't confuse the two when trying to be a hero. - Liv Tyler is one hot elf. I think that was in there some where.

I think most are familiar with this concept. It is not the information or tool that is Evil(TM) but how it is used.
That thinking pervades all open source and online piracy issues.
They could create a separate company jointly owned (50/50) which provides data to both ReplayTV and Tivo customers in a standard format that they agree on. With new software upgrades all exisitng systems could then "dial home" to get this new format. They could then provide this to other companies for a fee. Or even individuals who build their own boxes? A longshot but it would mean that they could then focus on new hardware and shipping boxes menawhile owning a stake in the tvguide service.
What is stopping a cell phone from using the nearest telephone access point? Say I am at home. I have a landline node - for want of a better term. I use my "cell" phone and it contacts that node and then out along the landline. Thus I can use my cell phone as a home phone for outbound calls. At work I can do the same. When I am on the road it uses the nearest cell tower. When I am in a plane it uses a plane node. How hard is that?
Just got this the other day. It has an RJ45 connector on the back that hooks into you LAN. I have it going into my router with NAT addressing and it works just fine. It literally plug in and was assigned an IP then connected to replytv's servers across the network and downloaded all the channel stuff within a few minutes.
The cool thing is I can pull shows off the replaytv across the network and store them on a PC. I can also put them back on it with DVArchive. Tivo may have thumbs up but this sits on the LAN out of the box - how is that not more cool?
I read that it removes macrovision - could you play a DVD through it? I haven't tried. It has three sets of inputs that can be selected from the remote.
I have two friends with Tivos and they love them but they want a LAN connection even more.
IANABB ( I am not a bond broker) but if you live in one of the many states in the US where there is a state tax then Municipal bonds are a good investment. Most are tax free and much safer than the stock market.

If you want to retire early and have regular livable tax free income then a Bond Ladder is very handy. That and owning your own home and you are set.
Um, this isn't exactly right. P3P is for companies to say "You can trust me, I have it written down where you can see that I am trustworthy." You make it up!
You are trusting a website that has P3P to tell thr truth about what they do with your data. They can do what ever they want with it... till they get caught. It is a tool for industry self regulation. It can be abused easily enough.
Rather than speed I find myself looking for power savings. Getting a fast processor that I can roast a chook on doesn't do me any good. The Via and Eden processors on the mini-ITX board suit me.
A smaller board so that my computer can be hidden and is not so intrusive. Couple that witt a flat screen and a slide away keyboard and look what kinds of things you can do!
price and performance for what most of us need.
Luckily I was engaged in the US and being Australian I went back to Australia and picked out a beauty of a full sprectrum Opal. My missus to be and I had checked out prices on diamonds in the US and were shocked and decided something unique was in order. I had the ring custom built for cheaper than anything on the market with Australian dollars (57 cents US at the time). 4 years later she still gets comments on how cool it is!
I am more prone to lie about facts like birth date, income, education status.
In the end it all comes down to the questions: If they are along the lines of my interests, my age range then I feel more comfortable saying I am in my late 20's and how I like to travel. Than give them my birth date and which hotel chains I stay at.
I was very impressed with this game - sure as anyone can tell you it is no Diablo II. D2 is a more rounded game BUT with modifications that are available you can add so much more so easliy to DS. Even the GUI is now configuraable using a scripting language.
The company is creating its own mod tutorials and making the tools available for free. I am very impressed - almost
Oh yeah, and of course Microsoft does have some interest in it... so that may be a reason we haven't seen more on it here. A smart thing they did by buying an interest in Gas Powered Games back in 98.
I worked with Yahoo aq couple of years back on a project integrating various finanical information into their pages. A colleague and I met with one of their UI folks. He was a Phd in neurolinguistic programming or something but what was really cool was that they had several pools of non computer folks that they ran UI screens by and got feedback on. Nice to have those resources.
I had this happen on a beige box - the PSU fan stopped. It heated up enough that the smell (no smoke) was enough to set off my ceiling mounted fire alarms. Finally following my nose I figured what was triggering it. Took PSU apart (no user serviceable parts inside) and gave it a good clean and checked for burns to PCB or wire.
Brilliant! It is sure to be releases in an electronic format. The 'illegal' distribution of which on Napster clones will generate so much interest even more hard copies will sell!
That's so crazy it just may work. Wasn't there an article about disposable phones a while back? And there is all those one time use cameras. Make them out of recyclable material and get a discount on the next one when you take them back.
You could keep three or four on hand if you knew a big paper or assignments/projects were due.
There is a poll on the right :

Would you like to burn your recorded shows directly on DVD?
* yes
* no
* we cannot do that to hollywood
Please submit your preference, when it's no longer
This is exactly what active civil disobedience is. Mod parent up as informative.

So are you releasing this application of yours as Open Source?

even better: a no handed mouse.
They could replace the ads with their own from local sponsors.
Now that would get sticky on the legal side of things.

I just boght the game a few days ago and I have spent too many late nights on it. The number of mods out there is staggering.
You think that is the hard question...
Now explain how you can watch one show and tape another?

Anyone complaining about Yahoo's screens?
