I think it would be like attempting to patent some other naturally occuring chemical, like say water for instance. Or maybe attempting to patent gravity.

I do not believe it should be allowed. Naturally occuring biological molocules should not be patentable. What could be patentable would be a procedure to utilize the molocule for a commercial use.

The highly publicized Microsoft cracking. Will Microsoft be able to pursue an investigation in Russia? If they find the criminal, will there be any legal recouse they could take in Russia?

I am tired of all the media hype and down right misinformation. Florida can not announce it's results until after Friday, November 17. Why because that is the deadline for absentee ballots. Quite simply all the votes are not in. The other point is that under Florida law, they have to do a recount if an election is within .05%. Up to now the system is working just the way it was designed to work.

If the media would relax and allow the completion of the election, I for one would be greatful.

I suspect that some of the court challenges in Florida will be heard. This, however, will not happen until after Friday. Further, since each state controls it's own election processes. It is fitting that a Florida court rule on any suspitious activity. Florida will follow it's rules and select electors. A president will be elected by the electorial college in December and everything will have worked as it is designed.

There is no constitutional crisis. There is no civil crisis. Things will be completed and work as they are design to.

Now, before any ignorant journalist spouts off about the constitutional matter or other BS. Please make a modicum of effort to understand the issues involved.

  10. Wrong !!! on Cheap, Paper RF ID Tags To Replace Barcodes? · · Score: 1

You people need to read the article and take a class in simple electronics. The ID tags are not self powered. They must be in the presents of a RF signal, much like the inductive tags used today. Like those tags Walmart puts on the more expensive stuff, so it will set the alarm off as you go out the door. Those upright retangular things on each side of the door are basically produce and EM field that the inductive tag uses to power itself and identify the fact that it is there (at the checkout they run the tag acrossed a very powerful electro-magnet the essentially burns the tag).

These things work nearly the same way, except they are capacitive. That means that instead of an EM field they use an RF field. But it will not be as if they will be active all the time. In fact, they will only be active in a relatively strong RF field. This will work just like the conductive tags do now. At a warehouse or at the checkout counter there will be a RF source that provides the power at some limited radius (like near a door) so that it will be possible to keep inventory. It will not be as if they will query every tag in the warehouse at one time.
