With all the heat generated by reentering the atmosphere, won't there be a port of this "elevator" that will be under constant heat stress?

I hate paper documents... besides being wasteful of trees, *snip* Give me a mini-PC or tablet PC anyday.
I agree with the sentiment about wasting paper, but I'm not sure replacing everyone's steno pad with a notebook/tabletpc/pocketpc/wristpda/etc is going to do the environment any good.
I like gadgets. And I like tech. But I don't pretend tech is more ecologically responsible than pen and paper.:-)
If you are at the bottom of one tax bracket, and are making more then say the top of the lower bracket, you actually take home less money, and are getting screwed by U. Sam.....
Untrue. Taxes in the US are tiered... you pay a higher tax-rate on the money that falls within the higher bracket, not the entire income.
Which are taxed out the wazoo. After taxes and other fees, the amount a typical homeowner keeps from the sale of a house is barely enough to make the downpayment.
Huh? Just sold my house... moved to another. Made a $75,000 "profit" and none of it taxable. You're allowed to keep limited capital gains on a home if you've lived there two years. Less time, or too much profit, and Uncle Sam demands his share....
Knowing a bit of how mass mailings work, specifically how you figure out who is where through zip codes, the actual city that gets printed on things mailed to you in that fasion is determined by checking the Post office database, usually through a program such as AccuZip.
Also knowing a bit about bulk mailings, the problem could stem from "Apricotland" not having a Post Office.
In our area, we have a community within another incorporated city's zip code. Anyone within this zip code may choose either city as their home, and mail gets there.
But mail arrives faster if you spec the correct city or use the Zip+4... because the mail doesn't have to traverse an extra postoffice to get there.
Curious: What kind of troubles do you have with your 3ware card(s)? I have a few servers with them and no issues. Yet. Maybe I need to keep an eye out for something??
So if your apartment complex, who are the owners, decided to sort through your postal mail and decide what you would or wouldn't receive, and did it without your knowledge, you wouldn't have a problem with that? After all, they own the mail boxes, right?
No, they don't. The Postal service owns the mailboxes.
I believe in a God, but have yet to find a religion which I don't take exception with for some supposedly moral practice. God and religion are two seperate things, and if and when everyone realizes this, the world will be a better place.
I agree. I am Christian.. attend church (nearly) every weekend, read the bible regularly (though I don't feel I read it enough:), and I'm even am employee of my church.
IMHO there's too much "tradition" in "religion" and the bottom line is really our relationship with God. None of us are perfect and can never hope to be, however having a strong relationship with God motivates me to try... whether that means being a good listener, a good helper, whatever...
I hope your "exception to [religion]... moral practice" is not an excuse to do it anyway.:-)
Im still locked into m$ office for exchange server. Until someone comes out with an Exchange klone, m$ will dominate the market.
Try Bynari's Insight Server which runs on Linux or Sparc and offers a fairly complete server for Outlook clients, and offers a *nix client to boot! You can share calendars, global addressing, etc.
Check http://www.pcpowercooling.com...they offer their Silencer Power Supplies if your power needs are moderate, and they are extrememely quiet and reliable. If your power needs are more heavy duty, they offer their Turbo-Cool models.

I agree that religion is [so far] unprovable (here I assume you refer to creation, a God that did it all "in seven days," and whatever else follows). I don't think science has done a good enough job proving anything that I am likely to change my mind. Science finds answers every day, and is making great strides towards "the answer." I'm waiting for that answer as much as any non-religious science junky.:-)
I'm not sure anyone is raised "entirely without religion." What I mean is -- to me "religion" is more like "tradition" if you catch my drift. My family's "religion" was not doing anything with any church. My father was raised Lutheran and somehow was put-off. My mother also raised in the church just didn't go anymore. My childhood family was stable, my needs were met and many wants were fulfilled. Since both parents were highschool teachers (Dad taught math/physics and had a M.S. in Geology, Mom taught English & Lit and had a M.A. in history with an emphasis on Greek Mythology) I was in a better position to do well in my education than most people I know. I graduated from university with a BS-EOH. I was a fortunate kid.
I didn't even set foot in a church until I was 15, at which time my Dad explained that the lure of churches can be in the activities for kids. At the time I took it as a warning to be careful.
I started attending my current church when I was 22... on the invite of a college friend who I respected. More than 5 years later I'm now an employee of this church.
Because I have a relationship with God I do indeed have a different perspective on death than you. I don't think this life is a game or that death from these hijackings is less tragic. I might consider them more tragic that you because I know that many of those people didn't have the relationship I have, and therefore it really is OVER for them.
For those who did have that relationship, I grieve in the loss of their life, the loss for their family, and the loss for their friends. However I am comforted in my belief that it's not over for these people.
How can a religious person truly mourn death when they think it's just a game, a little stage in a larger existance. They're basically saying "See ya later, I'll be along in a few years!".
That's an excellent question. Again, I don't feel life is a game, nor do I not mourn death. I'm writing this just before I go back to my church's sanctuary and pray for this horrible situation. I'm praying for the families and friends of those who are gone. I'm praying with people who come in and want someone to pray with. I'm praying for our leaders and the decisions they are faced with. And I'm praying that the world might understand that God is in control of what ultimately happens to all of us.

Agreed. I can't remember the last CD I've purchased. I've purchased... one DVD -- no, two -- total. Basically use Netflix.
Granted, doesn't really kick them in the groin like a complete boycott.
