  1. Re:Don't Forget Adults on Pinnacle, Online Grades, Skipping School and More · · Score: 1

I feel you should be able to tell by third or fourth grade how often your child will need to update you on his or her status. Once you know that, it's relatively easy to make a deal with the teacher say "My child has this problem, or doesn't tell us when things are wrong, so I would appreciate it if you would keep me updated on a weekly/monthly/quarterly basis". Any teacher that's reasonably a good teacher should agree, unless all her students need such help, then she'd bring it up to the school board.

  2. Re:So... on Pinnacle, Online Grades, Skipping School and More · · Score: 1

No, the teacher saved time by not having to grade my work in high school, just graded my tests (Perfect scores usually) and never had to bother me too much in class. Thus he/she had more time for other students or to teach other students. Unfortunately the teachers didn't seem to realize it.

He's talking about not needing to do the work, not not doing it for the sake of rebelling. If he had just rebelled and failed for not doing work, I'd agree with you.

Not if they have DRM on them, as the article says. You can only convert files with DRM to other types of files with DRM, and they can only be set to only play on your computer. So that would solve nothing, you get another type of file, still with DRM, and even worse quality cause you're mixing codecs.....

I have to second the motion that you have to go to a music retailer specifically because, working at a CompUSA, the only returns they really care about are computers, not printers, scanners, movies, music, etc. Stores that have all sorts of stuff generally only look at their biggest ticket items. So, if you went to Best Buy and said you wouldn't buy one of their home/car stereos cause it didn't play copy-protected CDs right, that might affect them, but nothing less.

And then there's the fact that the oceans will get warmer from the melting ice, and the warmer water is, the more space it displaces. So there will be a non-trivial rise in the oceans, but it will take some time. Luckily I will probably be dead (unless I discover the secret to immortality).
