I bought (obviously before this thread..) TurboTax 2002, and set out to see if it would install under Wine. I tried my install of Crossover Office wine, and it did start the install, but then just failed right out.
I'll be trying again, this time copying everything from the CD over to the HD in a temp directory, just to see if it makes a difference (sometimes it does..) or maybe in a vfat mount space.
Sonic Trout, home of "The Chandler Travis Philharmonic", which I just picked up on the spurr of the moment while back east in Cotuit, MA. Great kooky stuff.. sort of a cross between TMBG, Bela Fleck, and a red fern. I'm still trying to absorb the cosmic significance of "Llama Doesn't Quite Rhyme with Perpendicular"

Well, back in 1993, I wrote a program called EYESPY on the university VAX. It used the PHONE network to watch for your 'buddies', which you listed in the program, to log in and out. It even had custom messages for each buddy.
Not that the original code snippit to talk the phone protocol was mine -- I don't remember know and I appear to not have given attribution (T. Friest?). Good thing I copystarboarded that program (Back before I knew about copylefting and GPL'ing and such) back in 1993.
Oh, it's on the DECUS tapes somewhere (along with chd and mv), and I've probably got a copy offline. guess i'll have to dust off my DCL archives.

When i first read about it, i thought it was just another matrix/minority-report/apocolypic-genre rip-off film.
Now, after having seen the trailer and read the article, i can't say that i've change my mind much, but i'm probably more likely to see the film now.
It almost makes a person wonder -- how much of an influence does the internet have on the film industry? Does it make it easier to get crappy ideas on film, because there's an easier access now? If so, i've got this great idea for a horror flick or two....
Hmm.. I popped open Moz/Phoenix with my XUL-enhanced browser, selected I.E-Win98 as my UA, and went to movielink. silly javascript...
Of course, it just stops while 'checking the selection', presumably because moz/phoenix doesn't support ActiveX and VisualBasic..:-) (i mean, who really uses <script language='VBScript'> anyway? sheesh!)
Yeah, i've got a palm3 that i upgraded to 8M. Used to use it all the time, and then just got tired of lugging it everywhere, changing batteries, sync'ing, etc.
So I put it away for a while, and recently drug it back it, upgraded to 4.1, downloaded a bunch of freeware, and now i use it for the most popular function: playing games while on the toilet.
Of course, one of the best questions around and it stays modded down because it's not 'geeky' enough. I had this same question and was delighted to find it posted.. Personally, I'd love for W.S. to get back to the stage and do more Shakespeare. Perhaps he and Patrick Stewart could start a trend (old SciFi'rs return to their beginnings..)
ack.. I'm at -9.5 and -10.5, and i've been thinking about lasik/ladik for a few years. My Optho had it done and she loves it. Of course, she was a perky -2.5/-3.0, so what does she know..
I've used PP a few times, and it's gone pretty well for me. I've never 'deposited' money in them, mostly because I realise that *** They Are Not A Bank ***, just a western-union house. If only western-union didn't charge as much money for money-transfers, they could take over the paypal market. ($18US for a $40US transfer. Hello? Can you say unreasonable markup?)
I've got the Archos Recorder 20 with USB 2.0 support, and aside from the playlist issues (no longer than 200 entries or it shuts off!) i've been really happy with it.
I've been waiting for the RockBox project to have a bit better support, but I think i'll try it out today, as they support 10000 entries, and i've got a little over 9500 songs on this baby.
Sure 64k sounds like FM radio.. But one the road, having my __ENTIRE__ cd collection is just frickin cool, especially in RANDOM mode. Who can top listening to Beatles, then l'Elisir D'Amor, followed by Tom Leher? And that's not even a weird combo!
It seems that in todays culture, everybody is on some diet or another. For example, I'm currently on the Atkins, while my wife is on the Suzanne Somers program. This tends to frustrate us when preparing meals. And when we have guests over, it can include vegans, ovo-lactos, omnivores, and just plain picky eaters.
What resources do you use and/or suggest using (such as good substitutions for common ingredients that work well across a range of diets) when preparing full meals for dietary-challenged folk?

Sure, it doesn't handle everything, but I'm able to read the article and infer what's missing..
Butt is spelled with two 't's, so i'm told. But that might not really be what you meant, either..
Well, duh, but milking [texans|alaskans|iranians] wasn't as funny as milking bees.
Woot! I feel sorry for all the bees that NASA will be milking, just to make enough rocket fuel for the next launch..

Makes me wonder if TaxCut will run under wine..

Well, i suppose i shouldn't write VB when I read python...
Sigh... it's too bad that every cool concept that comes out seems to be built on top of VisualBasic and Windows.
Don't developers know how to program in an embedded space any more?

Just exit from an MSDOS program..
B8 00 4C = MOV AX,0x4c00
CD 21 = INT 21
I don't have my books to double check.. Where's Ralf Brown's list when you need it..
