If you've got a game that uses the Quake 3 engine unzip the package files in the game directory (usually pk3 files) and have a look at the script files. Their isn't really a huge amount of code that has to be written to get these games up and running using the Quake 3 engine. Most of the costs for the game come from the media that's used and the amount of time it took for the designers to build models, textures and audio files.

I recon that the Quake 3 style engine distro. is probably the way things will go. It probably won't reduce game development costs, since as the power of your platform increases so does the amount of time needed to develop environments, textures and other media

Could be interesting to see what the billboard would display for someone carrying a pack of diarrhea tables.

Mindless? Forgive me if I'm wrong but it isn't often someone falls asleep while in the middle of a fragging session. Personally I feel more dense than usuall after subjecting myself to 4 hours of the mindless tripe of the box.

I'm normally plugged into an mp3 player when coding and happy working in some remote corner of the office and I've got to admit, some of the best code I've written is when people leave me alone and I'm isolated from everyone else. That doesn't mean to say that I work well on my own but mucking me around and constant interupptions mean that I'm not at my best.
