Pick up any run of Cerebus: The Aardvark and you'll find intelligent criticism of politics, religion, or gender issues, mixed with a fair dose of wit and humor. And when you're done reading one of Dave Sim's crazy screeds there's a pretty good comic too!
All my friends went out and read it, and we were all happy to have done so. Even though it was a *lot* of work to get through. Just wait until you try his Gravity's Rainbow. Makes Vineland look like a cakewalk (but very worth the effort). Also, so far no one has recommended Gene Wolfe, particularly The Book of the New Sun. Also hard going at first, but very good indeed.
Because the article's submitter and the editor clearly appear to believe it is. Nope (well, I can't speak for the editor...). But the codes aren't going away, because only a tiny subset of all DVD buyers care about them. There's bigger digital rights issues to fry at this point, since going around these restrictions is trivial for those who are interested in doing so. However in this case a region free player is also an imperfect solution because of import prices, imperfect subbing, and unsubbed/dubbed extras. A release aimed at the English speaking fan is the solution, but that carries region coding baggage.
The import price point at cdjapan has been just a wee bit high for me. Bissette claims that the Disney fax gives an SRP of US $29.99. Not at all bad (but still no Nausicaa, as someone else noted).
Aren't there only 13 episodes of the Lupin tv show? Seems like we'll be cycling pretty quickly.
The original series had 23 eps, the second series had 155 and the third had 50. I bow deeply to your superior knowledge. And now I'm drooling about all that upcoming Lupin.
Just look at how people felt about Princess Diana. No democratically elected public servant was ever so adored. Way to forget the utter deification of Kennedy.
Whoever turned "copy right" into one word had to be a lawyer. We don't say "freespeechright" or "gunright" or "assemblyright" or "religionright."
As a result, 99 percent of the public thinks that a copyright is some kind of formal legal document. They think you have to go get it, or protect it, or defend it, or preserve it, or buy it, or hire a lawyer to make sure you have it.
Fantastic point. From now on let's refer to "copyright" as "copy right". It's an informative and accurate meme that need to be spread. Who's with me?
Fletcher at Philips's Southampton lab says SFFO will be ready for sale in two years. Didn't Duke Nukem Forever have a relase date at one point? My rule of thumb is that until you can actually buy it, it's just a concept.
You know what would be great? If this (or ideally, a subbed print) were to show at the Michigan or State theaters here in Ann Arbor. They've shown anime before (the screening of Metropolis I went to had an almost full house).
Maybe the editors from a somewhat influential website could co-sponsor some sort of an event. You know, as a sort of house-warming for their new offices. And to show their new community what a great 'n' fabulous 'n' magmanimous bunch of guys they are.
Region 2, no dub, no sub, has been available for a while.
If you want to import it from Japan, of course.
You probably meant something a little more accessible.
So it was.
I'm just glad to see that Sean Penn's "oscar bait" performance as a retarded man in I Am Sam was totally passed over.

(My first accepted story. Verily, w00t.)
90 minute delay was specifically for Pay-per-view events. Regular programming can still be shifted like the dickens.
You forgot the "Sodomy" song from Meet the Feebles (possibly the most disturbing movie I've ever seen).
Well, a lot of "power users" have disabled automatic updating and don't bother to check Windows Update. So they might have missed this.
Yes. Slashdot bills itself as a news site, and it is looked upon as a news site.
So's the Drudge Report. *Shrug*

This means 5 new episodes of lupin a week.

The cashiers checks were counterfeit. SO the scammer either made 'em himself or acquired them from another crook. No actual bank was involved.

Your sig utterly rocks. Just had to say. The world needs more Van Dyke Parks references.
Maybe they could just send Buzz Aldrin out. With a bat. Or his manly fists of iron. That should "silence" the doubters!
Because mainly people are settling before it ever gets to court. Those of us with souls know this by the name "extortion." It's fun!
Doesn't surprise me one damn bit. I'm getting bupkiss on Google, though: do you know of a source with more info on this?

Look, all they have to do is change the name to Mojira. Problem solved.
Or not.

What? It beats hell out of a PT Cruiser...
Wait?
"Do you have a comrade?"
Also, the Teddy Bomber episode (Cowboy Funk) ends with "See you Space Samurai..."
I have to go hurt myself now.
