It never has been about fairness. The US has used an adversarial system since its founding. The process is fair only to the extent that all litigants have equal access to the process. That being said, what you and your attorney make of the process should not aim for fairness, but for winning. That's the whole point of an adversarial system.
If you want to argue against the use of an adversarial system and why an inquisitorial system (or some other system) would be more "fair", have at it. But the adversarial nature of the system and the lack of "fairness" is one that's been built in.
You should be so lucky. These days most mastering engineers shoot for 4 dB of dynamic range at most because, otherwise, the soft passages will be lost in the car noise.
I never found it particularly brutal. Did I have to study? Yes. But you should have to do that in school. Life consuming? Not really... I had plenty of time to participate in "extracurricular activities" during my college career, including many chemical-substance fueled ones. Darwinian struggle? Not even close. I found most of my fellow students non-competitive and, in fact, helpful. If you want brutal, life consuming, and Darwinian, the pre-med line starts over by the Chemistry department.
Unlike land-line service, wireless is unregulated and receives no government subsidy (caveats apply for such things as under-served communities and low-income subsidies which don't seem to apply in this case). As such, they can pick and choose customers (again caveats - excepting issues of discrimination, for example). In this case, this is a customer who they don't want to have and that seems to be legal to drop. I know I wouldn't this guy as a customer if I were AT&T.
There are plenty of good reasons to live in a community distant from your work and having the freedom to make that choice is amazing.
Interesting, but ultimately irrelevant statement. No one is forcing you to live somewhere else. What they are asking is for you to pay the actual costs for your choice. And it will happen within a few years. I hope you're smart enough to place yourself in a tenable position before then.
It is so refreshing to see that our US Imperialism has finally overcome the Canadian notion of independence. Sign this bill and the transformation will be complete. Join us in the new American hegemony! Soon we will conquer the remaining people to the south and our hold over this hemisphere will be final! Join us, O brethren from the great white north! Let us build the future together!!!
As plot lines are usually driven by conflict as opposed to happy, fluffy bunnies, and as conflict is usually a relatively negative thing, a moderate tendency towards a more negative worldview helps in dramatic writing.
Damn you! That's the first time I've thought of that movie in years. Now it will take another five to get that gawdawful piece of crap out of my head. It's like the goatse of movies.
You know, every time an AV story comes up, so does this stupid canard. AV companies have no real need to develop viruses and other malware - there are enough people doing that external to their companies to keep them quite busy enough all of their working hours and to allow them to continue making sales. And do you think these companies would risk the millions of dollars they make each year doing something as idiotic as this?
You may not like their products, but please... Your post (like the others of the same ilk that can be found on this thread) is just stupid.
Uh, your offer is paying the 1/4 for about 60% time. Old people may want to work less, but at least they know enough math to understand your offer is a non-starter.
It depends... More productive than what? Than sitting ina two hour meeting listening to your manager bloviate? Probably. Than actuallly doing work? Probably not.
But it's the wrong question anyhow... "If you have to have meetings, is this the most efficient way?" is a better question. And the most efficient way will vary on your organizational needs, your team, and what you all happen to be doing. Sorry - there are no easy answers.
There may not have been another available. Here in Portland, for example, general purpose computers (as opposed to those who are used for specific purposes such as catalog access) are so in demand that a person has to sign up on a waiting list for using one for a half hour at a time.
... so I'd probably prohibit jerkin' it to the pr0n.
You don't need to. There are already many, many, many laws on the books that would be applicable if anyone watching porn brought "Little Willie" out into public, many of which would probably put the idiot who did so behind bars for quite a while, while leaving him with a sex offender rap.
We need suggestions!

Strippers.
It seems to work for the sales guys in Vegas...

Only a fool doesn't know that the most expensive thing in the world is the second best lawyer in a legal match.

Obligatory addition: ...for the children!
What? Terrorists are gambling for children on the internets? Man, there oughta be a law...
Also, remember that porn featuring women with small breasts is considered child porn in Australia.
On the other hand, who would want to look at porn containing images of women with small breasts? Just sayin'...
You can never be too thin or too rich.
Just in time for December 12, 2012!

Con-Air is not a case study any more than the movie "Terminator" should convince you to destroy your computer.
Of course... Destroying computers would be stupid. "Terminator" should convince you to destroy any robots you come across.

Because audiophiles are mainly too fucking stupid to use a DAW. Anyone who would pay $5000 for a three meter audio cable can't be that smart.
What does God need with a starship?

Americans can understand the class system intellectually but you have to have grown up in it to really appreciate its demonic force & antiquity.
Don't worry - we're getting the idea. Mainly because we seem to be trying to recreate the system over on this side of the pond.

Hooray! So now I'll be able to be completely lucid and aware as I die from some other painful, debilitating disease.
Take all you want!
