Lame attitude. It is important to know what you are talking about when trying to diagnose a problem or use something complicated like a computer. If people use a car, they had better know the basics or they may end up putting motor oil in the windshield wiper fluid reservoir like my mother did. If you don't, you sound either uninformed or like an idiot or you risk doing something stupid that might cost you a lot of money.

Take the time to know the basics of the system you are using.

Why is this? When I first used my Drobo, I was getting 50 MBpS from the internal drive in my iMac to the Drobo. 13 MBpS is common. Yet, I have seen data transfer rates that drop down to 200 KBpS at times.

Do you have any idea why?

Be this as it is, my data is backed up and that's mainly what matters, though I would like to know what contributes to the occasional slowness.

    Drobo.

I have 2 of them and one has saved my butt.

After losing 7 hard drives behind a cheap surge protector after a lightning strike, I now have serial APS surge protectors and a 4.5 TB Drobo.

Format it for 8 TB and you can swap drives in and out as you need to move up in storage capacity.

It's pretty brainless to use. You just plug it in and let it do its job. Get the fast SATA drives.

In no way do I want anyone who I do not know or anyone who I do know that I have not given permission to to email me with their solicitations for crap I never asked for.

Email is generally our daily conversations. If you were walking up and down the street talking to your friends and 10 people came up to you trying to sell their own crap to you, and then 10 more and then 10 more, pretty soon, you'd want to kill these people.

This type if communication/solicitation is presumptuous, rude, offensive, annoying and COMPLETELY UNWANTED.

I love some companies who feel the need to start emailing you simply after you bought something there once - and they never ask you if it's ok.

I wonder if some wingnut comes down with Explosive Ebola, I wouldn't be surprised if he identified the locations of Snotty Scotty and the like and mortars their houses.

Mastering grammar school English composition is a commendable achievement. But if you're going to be sloppy and not pay attention to the details, you inflict your lack of standards on everyone who has to read your work. It's a case of "if you want to look like a sloppy person who does not even proofread his own work, that's fine, but please keep it away from us who don't want to see your lack of attention to detail." Remember that you're penning/typing your message not for yourself but for others to read, you should at least be respectful of the people reading and proof your own work.
