Sure, and UNIX way of doing file permissions is perfect. Sorry, but usually things are not black and white, and most sets can be organized in more than one way. You can choose one for a filesystem - what are you going to do with the others? Make "shadow directories" filled with symlinks?
The people who "paid even a little bit of attention to prior work" came years later, and had much more powerfull CPUs and peripherals at their hands because of it.
"When you consider the dynamic growth of Apple products and the high quality of user interface that Apple users expect, it seemed very compelling to make this great technology available to the Apple development community as well."

According to US News and World Report, Macintosh owners buy 30% more software than their Windows counterparts. Further, Macintosh software comprises over 18% of all software sold, according to the Software and Information Industry Association. In addition, the Software Publishers Association (SPA) estimates that 16 percent of computer users are on Macs.
So cheer up, they only count people buying software, thus most Linux users don't show up here;-)
Intel has already demo'd a Pentium 4 running at 3GHz. Yesterday they showed a Pentium 4 running at 4GHz! This time the demo processor was liquid-cooled, however (the 3GHz demo was air-cooled). [...] Talks centered around upcoming Pentium 4 solutions and down-the-road products, such as Prescott and its 0.09 micron architecture. Prescott will enable air-cooled Pentium 4s to arrive sometime next year (2003) at speeds of 4GHz.
So where the hell did all the R&D go? The P4 may never reach 4 GHz, at least Intel has taken it of the road-map.
Whining that people complaining about it are just whining ain't gonna fix it either.
Exactly, all those translucent blue USB peripherals were made to match the BSOD.
So Intel jacks up the prices for the processors.
As long as most people think that (copies of) VHS is good enough quality, HD is going nowhere.
Yeah, the good old P-M they sell now. With a 5% faster clock rate. Whoppee!
Yeah, I see that Intel has no problems churning out those 4 GHz P4s it promised for over 2 years.
"Huh, huh, he said 'damn'" - "Shut up, Beavis. Heh, heh."
Hey, maybe that threat was the true reason to go Intel.

Actually, they simply also clicked the "release as OpenSource" checkbox, and stayed up all night partying.

Esp, when Apple will switch back, because Intel jacks up the prices again, after AMD is dead. 5 years.
When Apple bought Universal Music? No? They must have, everybody was reporting on it. Instead, Apple presented the iTMS.
And the water you take from the molten former permafrost.
Your hair is getting thinner, but at least you've got more growing out of your nose and ears.
Not really, since the Software and Information Industry Association is the same as the Software Publishers Association (SPA)
One of them is AT&T Natural Voices coming soon for Apple Mac OS X
So cheer up, they only count people buying software, thus most Linux users don't show up hereSo smash it with a hammer first, then Apple can't rip you off. Jesus Christ, Apple is damned if they do and damned if they don't.
