    WWII: you only had a chance because the war in Russia.

    "The country as a whole" is a pretty dumb concept. Because then the USA would still be part of Britain as a whole.

    You guys keep ignoring that apart from the A-bombs, there was a big little change in the the terms for surrender, removing the only one that the Japanese would (or could) not accept. If you had changed it before, you would have had your unconditional surrender.

    Okay, first of all, the US didn't win the World Wars. Second, why would the King of France have a big stake in you later helping the Revolution that had him beheaded?

    That is one of the problems with most Americans, once they leave the shaky realm of their own "history", created to be self-assuring, things fall apart pretty quick.

    There is no shortage of US citizens willing to risk death to get some "easy" money either. Not as much as are willing to degrade themselves in front of a camera for a couple of bucks - but unlike Cubans they at least get the chance to. Freedom shines.

    The difference between Cuba and thoses other countries is that the people coming from the other countries are mostly seeing jobs, and have initally have plans to return back home.

    While the Cubans want to become drug dealers. That is those that don't become US sponsored terrorists.

    Well, ultimately that obsession saved the whole Alpha/Beta Quadrant from the Dominion, because those large numbers of proven ships were not vulnerable to the Breen weapons, unlike all those high-tech ships from the FUP, the Romulans et al.

    Actually, most of what was seen in that episode was just some sort of 'empathic hallucination' Troi had in that room (which ends in her killing Worf in jealousy), mixing what had happened there and her own feelings for others in the crew - including her attraction to Worf. Eye of the Beholder

    Because click-throughs are the only way they can estimate how many people even saw the add. In print you have the sale numbers, in broadcast you have ratings. On the web you have nothing, at least for tiny sites.

    And the reason they want those numbers is so they know how much the add is worth, so they can pay accordingly. They don't pay the same for an add in American Idol and one in reruns of New Lassie at 3 AM.

    On Intel they have SSE, MMX etc. units.

    Yeah, and apart from a lot of differences, they are the same as Velocity Engine.

    It's commonly known that Apple keeps a version of OS/X for Intel current and ready to go if they should ever have to switch because of supply problems (which has always been a real threat).

    What bloody good does a OS do, when you have ZERO apps? There are no x86- or Itanium-binary apps for Mac OS X .
