    Apple amounts to only 1% or so of PPC sales. The other guys - makers of servers and embedded devices - most certainly do care.

    The server makers (including Apple) make up 0.1% of PPC sales, and the embedded market doesn't give a shit about "low-power" 970s.

    There's nothing here significantly stronger that what we've had for the last several months. Sure, dual core vs. dual G5 has benefits, but without a clock boost or anything else, it's not much more than packaging.

    So how is that in any way different to the situation on the x86 side?

    Which wouldn't have mattered at all, unless somebody wanted to use an old System on a new Mac - which probably wouldn't have worked even if they hadn't done this. Point is, Apple told people not to use the upper bits.

    Looking at this, they go at it a different way.
    Units will have strengths and weaknesses against other types of units. For instance, pikemen will have a decided advantage over mounted units and axemen will be especially good against melee units.

    [...] the promotions will add this type of customization in a much more fluid manner since the units are upgraded "on the fly" (i.e. with each new promotion) and you don't have to have researched a certain tech to gain access to them all. Some of the promotions include: jungle or forest bonuses, city defense, city raider, flanking, or just simple power bonuses. You will be able to make units that are specialized without changing all of a certain type and you can change "paths" as your situation dictates.

    Apple (and other companies) have to allow for currency fluctuations. Take the price of iMacs for example, set around the time when the USD was at an all time low compared to the Euro, they now cost almost the same (w/o taxes) here in Germany as in the US.

    For most personal and business documents, Word has a couple hundred features too many. And why the hell do I still have to use Page Layout View to SWIG - or rather, why is the normal view not WYSIWYG?
