I don't think weapons research is a good thing. Not for "the bad guys" and not for "the good guys". There's not much of a difference anyway when both good and bad use their own citizens to test weapons on. But there's f-all I can do about it.

I sound like some crazy ol' hippy, damn it. That's what really burns my toast. At least we didn't cycle through communism. Some commie bashing should make me feel better. At least Bush Junior and Reagan were both good at polarizing the nation.

And albertoiii, not sure if you've just been trolling, but your link isn't working for me and the article I pointed out to says Saddam didn't have blood chemical agents. Here's the complete article.

  5. Re:Buh Bye on DIY Cruise Missile Designer Turns Freelance · · Score: 4, Insightful

Starting with your first paragraph: do you seriously not care that he was building a cannon for saddam hussein, a man who has used chemical weapons against his own citizens, launched wars at the drop of a hat and sworn to eliminate several of his neighbors?

The CIA has said that Saddam didn't gas the Kurds. It was done with blood agent chemicals (cyanide-based gas) that he didn't have. It was probably the Iranians.

Swearing to eliminate your neighbors happens all the friggin' time. How often do people whine about Canucks and the French? Even on something as technical and intelligent as slashdot, people are always saying crap like that. That's certainly helping our reputation world-wide.

Hell, the US is trying to overthrow the Venezuala government, and they're pretty much our neighbor. Cuba is 90 miles away from Florida and we aren't inviting them over for milk and cookies. And the US Army gave citizens, servicemen, and prisoners crap like malaria & syphilis, and sprayed them with mustard gas and biological weapons (thinking of San Francisco here) without telling them. So basically, your first sentence might as well be applied to the Good Ol' USA. The chemical agents American soldiers were exposed to in the first Gulf War were made in the USA.

The real moral is, don't do weapons research. Although I think that'll be mighty hard to apply world-wide. Maybe if we all agree to just disagree the world will be a better place. And weasels will shoot out of my ass.

Enough to fire him in a private company. For the first three offenses at a state or federal job it'd be a written warning.

Some guy brought in a gun to work with him at the UC Davis monkey lab, allegedly with a list of people he was mad at (gun for sure, not sure about the list). He's one of the same 2 people who "lost" a monkey. That one made national news, and the other guy got a promotion. Anyway, he got 30 days of "administrative leave" for the gun, which meant they were going to fire him.

Security was told, "Hey, we had to suspend this guy. If he shows up, wave, let him through, and call the police because he knows he's not supposed to be here". No point in actually telling the security why they were looking for him. And no point in telling employees what was going on. This was during the period when UC Davis was trying to get the Level IV Biohazard Lab, so that *might* have been part of the secrecy, but I think it's because all state jobs usually have A Giant State Head up their ass all the time. In the meantime, this guy got arrested in Wyoming, with the gun, with filed off serial numbers, and illegal drugs. He was in a car his mom rented that wasn't supposed to leave the state. Not sure how much time he's serving. But being black in a Wyoming prison can't be fun. He was a nice guy before he started taking drugs.

I think it's a great show. My girlfriend is one of the people where that's her main source of info, and she's not a dumb-ass. After a while of useless media telling you nothing, you give up on it, I think is her excuse.

So I sometimes explain bits to her on commercials. I was bouncing off the walls when Joseph Wilson was on plugging his book and she didn't know who he was. I had to explain about his CIA wife and how the Bush presidency outed her, commiting a felony that was signed into law by Bush, Sr. But I also loved the Jennifer Love Hewit interview. That's my 2nd favorite interview I've seen (Ginger Spice is the first). I love it when he ticks off his guests. And while I'm jerking off Jon Stewart, the 1st show after 9/11 was amazing.

And scupper, I don't think the elections lady looked like a dumb-ass. I saw that episode, and she was caught off guard, but she did a lot better than Senator Vasconcellos.

And for Sacramento news (I live in midtown) they do their best to stop live entertainment even though they have a weird Hard Rock Cafe mentality. Hey, that didn't work, so now we'll put in a new artsy theater that'll put Tower Theater under. There's crooked cops out raping girls on their shift. The homeless shelters being shut down to make the city nicer. What's the point? I still vote, but I think it's pretty worthless. There's a reason for the "slacker" generation to be slackers. So here D-Day is huge, it's about how the US saved Europe with a bit of UK help. No mention of Stalingrad & the Eastern Front where Russia wiped out most of the German army.

After all, we recently stopped Saddam from blowing up another World Trade Center and releasing anthrax into our population. Keep people thinking of the US as that, and we'll do fine.
