5 years old? It's getting on a bit and I imagine its memory is starting to suffer a bit. You could almost go as far as to say that it's memory might start leaking soon.

So they've changed the chromosome code to encode data using a lossless codec instead of a lossy one. Terrific, now we have to put up with people moaning about the lack of FLAC encoding in their music AND genes.
We (Parallel Realities) have written a bunch of games and I was recently looking into porting these onto the DS and Wii via Homebrew, because I think people would enjoy playing them (on the move in the DS's case), so I'm all for Homebrew.
What I am against though is modding your games machine just so you can download the games off the web without having to pay for them, which I think is what Nintendo is actually annoyed about.
However, getting around region locking does mean that one can play games only released in Japan (or the US if you live in Europe). In this instance I could understand a gamer's frustration and why they might download it off the web (because they can't a company willing to ship overseas).
Someone will have to confirm this for me, but I'm pretty sure that on the box of the original Xbox, it states that you don't technically own the hardware, but have been given a licence to operate it which can be withdrawn at any time (if you don't agree then don't open the box etc.)
I'll see your scenario and raise you a more wacky one:
Ballmer: "Is Windows Vista ready?" Project Manager: "Not even close" Ballmer: "OK, release it anyway, finish the OS later and re-sell it as a new version" Project Manager: "?????" Ballmer: "Profit"
CEO: "Are we going to meet the release date?" Project Manager: "Most of the game is done, but not all the bonus maps have been completed or tested yet" CEO: "You'll just have to pull all nighters until it's done" Project Manager: "Well I was thinking that we could just release that stuff as (paid) DLC when the game launches" CEO: "Kind of like how you'd release a patch to fix a hideous software bug you only noticed just before game went live?" Project Manager: "Exactly, and that leads me to my next point..."
I was always warned about working on personal projects using work equipment. I was told that my company can claim the project as their own since I used their equipment to develop it, which sounds plausible. Where or not it's really true is another matter.
Or was it that I shouldn't be working on personal projects during work time?
I hope so. KDE 4.2 was such a mess that I uninstalled Intrepid and went back to Hardy. Maybe 4.3 will work well in Karmic but if KPackageKit is anything to go by I'm not holding my breath.

As true as I'd like this to sound, I doubt Microsoft would be worried about violating the GPL. They probably have so many high paid lawyers that they could drag out any court case until the end of time or until the prosecutor runs out of money to continue battling them which will probably happen first to be honest.
Just out of interest, how many GPL violations have been successfully challenged and won?
Even though I can see where the problem is since UK law is unclear in this matter, it is still a photo of a painting and will never compare to the real thing.
I've seen loads of photos of the Mona Lisa, but does that mean if I was in the Louvre* would I not go and see it? Of course I would, because I'd want to see the genuine article.
Ironically, it sucks to be them :)
They thank someone from Google for helping them spot the vulnerability! It's in the acknowledgements:

Thanks a bunch, stupid scientists.

Last week trading in GGF stock were suspended due to suspected insider trading.
Maybe they'll make the perpetrators walk the plank.
(Oh come on, I'm allowed to do that joke once)
All you have to do is make it disconnect when it realises that it's losing...

No one is watching Big Brother in the UK anymore, so instead they're going to use the classic Soviet Russia twist:
(takes deep breath)
In UK, Big Brother watches you!
Plus, Davina McCall needs something to do besides those hair colour adverts.

All we need now is some true frickin' sharks and we're in business.
