    Torque-reaction occurs as a consequence of a motor (or gearbox) attempting to rotate contary to the axle (or axis) direction.

    Since THIS is Rotor Tip-driven, rather than axle-driven, it doesn't suffer from torque-reaction.

    BRAVO! Your post has been one of the most intelligent on this theme!
    Alternative (non-MS) OS' users should stand togather for one, if no other, reason-
    OS Diversity! As in the natural world (and in YOUR own family, I may add) genetic diversity is the way of improvement of a specis. Anyone can imagine what happens to a specis (or family) that's procreation is limited by inbreeding!

    Computer Hardware needs OS Diversity for maximum services (& ease-of-use) to continually improve.

    I'm sure that the GENERAL CONSENSES on this site agree/s that BOTH Linux & MacOSX (particulary when able to run on a single system) offer the user continually improving usability & services! About the only recuring objection that I see, on this site, refers to the closed ((or expensive)) Mac Hardware!?!

    Just to confirm (or inform) readers here - that I am POSTING from (non-Mac)Debian GNU/Linux on PPC! True, presently I have NO OTHER OS' installed on THIS Hardware - but I have the option of adding MacOSx thru MOL, and am presently awaiting the OS for which Chiefly I acquired THIS Hardware -- AmigaOS4!

    Who says- "You can't have it ALL!"? :-) ((Excluding, of course, anything MS!!) :-)

    I have the CBM 1201 amber monochrome VDU originally purchased to display the C128D's 80 column mode. It still does duty as an emergency monitor, attached to the A2000HD's mono port.

    When connected to a VCR, a Black & Amber display can be watched!!

    CUSTOM CHIPS: ECS PAL Agnus (id=$0020), Normal Denise (id=$00FF)
    VERS: Kickstart version 40.63, Exec version 40.10, Disk version 44.2
    RAM: Node type $A, Attributes $405 (FAST), at $8000000-$BF7FFFF (63.5 meg)
    Node type $A, Attributes $703 (CHIP), at $1000-$1FFFFF (~2.0 meg)
    BOARDS:
    Board + ROM (HD?) (phase 5): Prod=8512/24($2140/$18) (@$EA0000 128K)
    Board (Village Tronic): Prod=2167/11($877/$B) (@$200000 2meg)
    Board (Village Tronic): Prod=2167/12($877/$C) (@$E90000 64K)

    As can be seen from those SPECS, the Gfx card (on 16Bit ZorroII bus) is 2meg, and it currently has 64meg (FAST) of which 51.4meg is still free! 0.5meg is lost with the Kickstart ROM mapped to RAM.

    The case's 51/4" bay ( built for XT-AT Floppy Drive use ) holds the Toshiba 2.5X CD-ROM that I've had for years.

    This'll do untill the expected upgrade to the NG system with PPC-cpu rated 1866% faster than this 68060.

    I do! I can have this A2000/060 crash, and retain my dialup-ISP connection. MS Worms pain my ISP but not me directly.

    Big business customers in Queensland include Queensland Rail (Visual Arrivals Info at inner-city Brisbane stations) and Queensland Transport (Visual Information).

    Second-hand (10 year old) Amigas are MORE valuable than 10 year old x86 systems.

    The AmigaOne Lite is certain to be popular in imbedded and kiosk applications.

    There is other CHEAP technology that can provide space launch capability.

    1. Air launched SpacePlanes. The X-15 program could have allowed a man to reach space MUCH EARLIER than Glenn did via purely a ballistic ground-based system.

    Because the ground-based ballistic stuff ALSO had uses as ICBMs -- that was the system that got the nod!

    2. Air launched from balloon -- this has been used for relatively small stuff at high altitude.

    3. Second stage from Super Gun. The trouble for this is the second-stage and payload have to be resistant to intense initial accelleration.

    No1 is usable for moderate (and human) payloads with current carrier aircraft. Even the Concord could be modified to serve for high-altitude, high-speed air-launching.

    What lesson? Not to let the Americans tell them how to land an Airship in a thunderstorm?

    Good lesson! Come in high (with an electrical potential equal to the thunder cloads) and drop ropes which get wet in the rain. Earth those WET ropes with the ground and complete an Ultra high-voltage circuit.

    In Germany they approached landings from a LOW altitude in safety! But what do the (friendly-firing) Americans know about safety?

    with Helium! The ZR 1, named the Shenandoah, was built in the US in 1922 and was modelled after a WW1 German height-climber. With 93% of the lift of Hydrogen, this Helium supported airship was ripped in two in a thunder storm in 1925. Only fourteen lives of a crew of 43 were lost in the disaster.

    The LZ 126 was delivered from Germany by Hugo Eckener in October 1924, and became the Los Angelos. This craft, with its hull's silver sheen of aluminum powder dope, was operated until retirment in 1932 with an unbroken safety record.

    I'm only saying that essentially the design of the majority of x86 CPUs is in the hands of MS, as is the design of the required motherboards.
