    Do tell! According to MY memory; before MS DOS there was CP/M which could run on, not just different manufacturers machines, but entirely different hardware! Upon first install you selected what the character screen size in use was by chars across X lines down!

    In certain cases CP/M (and the Z80 processor) was secondary to the original system OS!

    Hasn't ANYONE figured out how to couple Feedback with a Virtual Keyboard?

    ALL you need is a Medium-to-High Density foam pad positioned where the V-K appears. Some mouse-pads have this kind of structure.

    (If my 'keying' comes out fast & accurate, it is because my V-K appears on the shoulders of Foam)

    I'll raise your 1986 with a 1985 . . .
    It was possible to write a game for Commodore's C128 that could cover a 40-Column, and a 80-Column screen. The only difficulty was that only one screen could update at a time.

    Could have been okay for Battleships, with one screen-per-player!

    Why not look into the Pegasos II?
    Select PEGASOS II KONFIGURATOR, and read on from there. I didn't use THAT destination URL as it was way too lengthy.

    I, myself, have an AmigaOne but if you want cheaper h/ware -- the Pegaoso II is a goer!

    Those car damage examples are a recurring feature in this area, although none spring to mind just recently.
    Some company once marketed an inflatable car roof protector, similar to an air-mattress! It was ONLY meant to be attached to stationary vehicles.

    Storms in the last month have caused dwelling window breakages through hail action.

    Well, I've got news for you. Here, in S.E. Queensland, there have been several ocassions when cars in salesyards have had their upper surfaces pock-marked enough that the cars had been put up for auction.

    Some will bid for for them as cheaper current-model cars; not minding the non-smooth finish.

    When I was 17 or 18, I was working in the Wine & Spirits Dept. of a large merchandising w/saler.

    On one ocassion, I was required to enter an emptied wooden Rum-mixing Vat to clean the bottom.
    Wearing gum-boots, and using a 3v.lightbulb mounted at the end of a 3foot copper tube for illumination; I held my breath as I picked up wood shards, etc. from the bottom.

    Vision was almost useless as my eyes were tear-filled from the fumes. The bottom was still covered by a fraction of an inch of H.P. Rum!

    But, compared to other platforms; its like the difference between having a good wife . . .
    and one who sleeps around- sleeps through the day drunk- and keeps your credit card maxed out!

    So, having an Amiga is like having a GOOD wife!
