    I think this is most likely.
    To reach space you have lots of self-control so that you don't..uh..risk wiping out your civilization.

    Once you reach that point of sophistication, you would feel that we humans are so damn annoying, unpredictable and of little use that you would want to avoid us at all cost.

    That or we are an experiment they have been running for billion+ years and don't want to contaminate it. kinda like what we earthlings do when we send out space probes.

    Easier said than done.
    Many developers are lazy and create apps that only work if the USER is an administrator. Other times it will only work if the user that installed the app is the USER (Again, need administrator to install it in the first place!).

    BTW: Fixing this is my bread and butter.

    I bought a cheap scope once to go on a pellet gun.
    The cheap scope fell apart from the vibrations.

    Could the iPod become "iParts" on the ground just from the recoil shocks?

    With the pricing of AutoCAD today, what you spend every year on AutoCAD upgrades and new licenses you could hire a programmer to do the changes that *YOU* care about. Also, that programmer could be paid as well by other firms. So in the end everybody wins. You effectively cut out the Marketing/Sales middle men.

    At that time you could choose Windows ME or Windows 2000.
    MS had a hard time to get people off Win9x.
    Windows ME fixed that in a jiffy.
