"I can not believe that Americans were stupid enough to vote for this guy not only once, but TWICE."
Actually, in all seriousness, "they" (I say "they" even though I'm American, because there is no way I'd ever vote for him) only voted for him once. He stole the election 4 years ago, and had to have his father pull strings to get the Supreme Court to rule in his favor. So 2000 doesn't count (hence why I never ONCE referred to him as "The President" or "President Bush", only "Baby Bush", "Mr. Bush", or "Governor Bush".)
"Reports that say something hasn't happened are interesting to me, because as we know, there are known unknowns; there are things we know we know.... We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns -- the ones we don't know we don't know."
Think of this though... If you remember as of version 4 with IE, the browser became very closely tied to the Windows. If something is that coupled to the underlying OS, then any security flaw have just had its possible impact increased by an order of a magnitude. Just my 2c.
I'm sorry, but this almost NEVER works. I have this written on ALL of my credit cards, and have probably only had it checked 20-30 times in the last 5 years! One time I even bought $300 worth of books from B&N and they didn't even check it.
A couple of years ago I decided to try one of the Alienware laptops. A few days after I recieved it, the backlight in the display went bad. I sent it in to get it fixed, because to me the problem was obvious. They sent it back to me claiming that the reason why the display was "bad" (If you looked REALLY closely you could see the image... but that was it) was because of bad RAM. Of course the night I got it back, the display went dark again... Of course at that point I decided to just return it and get a refund... But seriously... how does someone get bad RAM from a dark LCD screen?!
Read the article... it doesn't say surfboards. It says they are fighting on floating platforms... they only use an analogy of surfboards. I do admit though, that I too have always either imagined either them on a bridge or low-lying bridge-like object.
SPOILER: Read the original stories. More or less the way it went was that Obi-wan tried to save Anakin from turning to the Dark side, and in doing so ended up having to fight him. In the end of the fight Anakin was knocked into a pit of lava... becoming Darth Vader... hence the fact that he's 80% machine.
Killed you? Oh how I loved that class! That was if not my favorite, definately one of my top 3. But then again, I had several friends that would get mad at me whenever I would say that... hehe... oh well... guess not everyone understands.
I totally agree. I've been out now for a lil over a year, and am so thankful that I made UT my choice. The theory they teach there is CS in its truest form, and really made you think. Anyone can pick up a book and learn the fundamentals about Java in a day... hell that's how I learned it. But it takes a great theoretical understanding to understand the "why" and the "how". which as far as I'm concerned is far more exciting.
"The patent only applies to the BASIC language."
Well no kidding, what part of the post could have ever given that hint away...
"MS has patented BASIC's IsNot operator"
Oh, wait... maybe it was the link that did
That'll work fine and dandy until the old cat decides to leave the room, only to get awakened by all of the discs flying at his ass!
I'm afraid to ask and sound ignorant, but "JE"?

Is it just me, or is it just a tad ironic, that when I viewed the comments, the advertisement at the top was for Doom3... hrmm... Is this a sign?
Complete with Gbrowser, the universal filemanager/web browser/gmail client, uber everything all rolled into one.
So it's kind of like Emacs?
I told them I was using a Touring Machine
a Turing machine maybe?
- The Oval Office
But that would imply that GW could read...
Let the flames begin...
Hi Jim, I'm sarcasm... nice to meet you. :-)
Slashdot getting slashdotted? the irony...
Obligatory Rumsfield quote...

Think on the positive side... it was a chown -R not an rm -rf
I'm assuming SGI didn't ask you to come back and intern the following summer?
You forgot "But can it run linux?"
Is this the stolen code that SCO's been complaining about?

So does this mean that we can /. a specific soldier?
Using a Windows version could really bring about a whole new meaning to the phrase "Blue Screen of DEATH"

Look at a picture of Michael Jackson. Can a human being even make this distinction?
