The distinct aroma of BS that is. A blanket, anonymous, and non-specific, "This movie sucks" post with a vague reference to the WGA strike.

I certainly hope your not one of the writers because I just know you could have done better than that.

  4. Ahh, sterotyping... on Samsung Caught Bribing Government Officials · · Score: 1

First off, you make a valid point, but let me speak to this statement.

"I expected a better punchline from a comedian"

Comedians, do actually have the ability to speak seriously on a subject. I'm not busting on you, it's just an observation. This one particular vocation seems to draw that kind of attitude. People seem to think that we are "on" all the time. Honestly, thank goodness I'm not, that would just be annoying wouldn't it? When I'm not on stage, I'm actually a pretty quiet, to myself person. A lot of people who know me are somewhat surprised by my stage persona. It is also my understanding that a lot of comics are similar to me.

This is exactly why I don't exactly share this with a lot of people. I mean "StressGuy" is relatively anonymous but the last thing I need is people constantly asking me to "tell them a joke". Truth is, I don't know a lot of jokes, which is pretty much like everybody else.

I did have that happen to me once during a large corporate meeting, however. My response was to tell them the absolute lamest, horrible joke I could think of and then threaten to tell them another one if they ever asked me again. The joke did not get a laugh (as expected), but the follow-up comment did.

I own the small Sansa c200 MP3 player. I purchased it because of the built-in FM radio and voice record funtionality. I use the latter for taking "audio notes" for my developing stand-up routine (yes, I'm an amature stand-up comedian). In short, it does things I need it to do that the iPod does not.

However, I also run Linux (Kubuntu to be precise). While Amarok works just fine with it, I would like to be able to update the firmware without having to find a Windows machine. I contacted SanDisk technical support are their advice to me was:

"Find the receipt, take it back to where you bought it, and get a refund"

No lie, that's what they told me to do. A real shame, because I really like the MP3 player. In fact, I'm still considering getting the "Sansa Shakers" for my kids.

The problem is, even if you are a responsible parent, the availability and accessibility of this media is growing at an exponential rate. I've got a couple of kids myself and am doing what I can. We teach our children about strangers - which includes the internet, and, on the computer my children use, I run DansGuardian giving me the ability to just block anything that's a problem.

Thing is, I take every reasonable step I can to protect my children from predators. If these, "social networking" sites aren't willing to show the same level of commitment to this that I have, then my only alternative is to block access to those sites.

but that only works at home....doesn't it? What about everywhere else they go?

So, speaking as a responsible parent, it would be nice if these "social networking" sites were also "socially responsible".

BTW - I have a MySpace page....and their spamblocking tools seem to be working.
