I always considered erector sets to be better for robotics experiments than legos, but I don't see erector set stuff much anymore. Did they go bankrupt? If so, why hasn't a Chinese toy firm resurrected the concept?
Maybe its the name:-P

They're finally wising up. No government with a grain of sense would buy software whose inner workings are unknowable and unfixable. Especially not from a big foreign-owned company that doesn't have your interests at heart.
So when would the US Gov start to "wise up"? Or do you really think that cuz Bill is american he gives a shit?
Make sure to find yoursefl a lawyer and take care of having ppl to sign an agreement for the rules you put up. A good disclaimer could save your ass a big trouble.
One should give Linux DVR a try. It runs on computers equipped with one or more video capture cards. It can record and compress audio and video in real time, using recent codecs like DivX or Indeo 5 for example.
This allegation really underscores a primary issue of closed source software - it's not out for public review, and hence, it would be VERY difficult to validate these claims. For all we know, SCO's code is a rip-off of Linux or some prior open-source code that Linux was a beneficiary of. SCO never published their source and there's nothing outside of SCO (or maybe IBM, if there was some kind of agreement) to validate the claims. The trouble is, we can trust neither of those parties to present untainted copies of the relevant code as both could have altered timestamps or copied in code. There's also the fact that some processes in software can just really be done in one optimum way.
This is a good reason software should not be considered "published", hence copyrightable, unless the source code exists in some human-readable means in some organization outside of the "software publisher" (who truly publishes nothing), a place the courts could seriously look at as proof of the existance.
A way that might serve as a valid stopgap would be the generation of an MD5 hash of each source file and submitting that to some trusted agency (Library of congress?) for another digital signature and timestamp to be added, proving the date of creation to some legal standard so that these allegations could be backed with proof. We'd know the plaintext was validly signed by the LOC and that it existed at the time alleged to.
Yes, I believe the name "Waste" is indeed a references to Thomas Pynchon's novel "The Crying of Lot 49." In the novel, W.A.S.T.E is either a hoax or a secret system for communication, and (might) stand for "We Await Silent Tristero's Empire." Here's a little quote:
"Last night, she might have wondered what undergrounds apart from the couple she knew of communicated by WASTE system. By sunrise she could legitimately ask what undergrounds didn't....[H]ere were God knew how many citizens, deliberately choosing not to communicate by U.S. Mail. It was not an act of treason, nor possibly even of defiance. But it was a calculated withdrawal, from the life of the Republic, from its machinery. Whatever else was being denied them out of hate, indifference to the power of their vote, loopholes, simple ignorance, this withdrawal was their own, unpublicized, private. Since they could not have withdrawn into a vacuum (could they?), there had to exist the separate, silent, unsuspected world."
Know what, kazaa is slow as shit and labor intensive if you're trying to get good quality. If someone would sell me a real unprotected mp3. (Not a windows only spyware-required piece of shit.) available for download on a fast connection with guaranteed quality and a simple search/purchase/download mechanism I'd pay.
Of course, then what's to stop somoene from uploading it to kazaa.
But the fact remains, as long as I can share amongst all of MY computers and MP3 Players I have no real desire to share with the universe if the price is fair.
Back when we had to buy a cd, rip, encode, and upload for 3 days on a crappy modem there was a cost that made it worth trading with others. I'll waste days of my life on "artist A" if you waste equal time on "artist B" and we'll swap. With quick high quality legal downloads for a fair price I'd rather say "go buy it yourself, here's the link".
If they can tap into that me-first (leachers abound) mentality and call it honest consumerism, they'll be loving life again. They can do so without limiting our civil liberties and suing the fuck out of everyone too.
Unfortunately, until a record company actually does something to repeal the evil fuckin dmca, I ain't buying shit from them, ever again. And I haven't since that piece of shit communist legislation was passed.

Is that really necessary from a (presumably) unbiased editor?

Unbiased editor? Come on, get a clue! This is
This should be the slogan...

they would use Linux, Evolution, OpenOffice, Scite/emacs/vi/whatever
:)
But doesnÂt VI do all of those things Evolution, OO and above all "whatever" does? If itÂs not build in there *must* be a module somewhere

Wouldn't it be cheaper to offer an educational discount on music CD's, thus encourage more CD purchases?
If only they'd abandoned the one button mouse sooner....

More p0rn less SPAM :)
I was talking about nanotech dude :)
Think of nanobots building stuff each one with his own ip address... Would ipv6 handle that?
IPv6 will not run out of addresses
:)
Hum... till ppl start assigning one ip address per fridge, cooker, toaster, air cond., etc...
My fridge will have one for each drawer so i can have a shell script to check for lack of booze and order more online
