In general i have no problem with ads, perticually not well designed and well placed ads. I still remember the Volvo ad that you could interact with without being sent to another website and the Sun ad where they point out that they don't rhyme on hell:)
I guess it's four 250 GB IDE drives, but i couldn't find any info on how it's managed. Having them in raid 0 doesn't feel very confident, you lose one you lose it all. And what about heat, four 7200 rpm drives in a small case, let's just hope it's not IBM:)
To solve their problem, it shouldn't be to hard to make a camera that implents some sort of strong encryption, public key or a unique key for each camera. Althought they probably depend on having a cheap massproduced camera that already exists.
Any GSM and probably any mobile phone can be tracked, the acuracy depends on the range to the closest antenna. Some cities in Europe already take advantage of this to give tourists and all others information an where they are. Instead of the name of the mobile operator on the display you get the name of the street your on.
Atleast it will make The Black Box series on discovery even more interresting. Not only sound and a simulated crash, now you can see the look on the passengers faces!

Microsoft haven't released any documention about the internals of NTFS, so we
had to reverse engineer the filesystem from scratch. The method was roughly:
Look at the volume with a hex editor
Perform some operation, e.g. create a file
Use the hex editor to look for changes
Classify and document the changes
Repeat steps 1-4 forever
If this sounds like a lot of work, then you probably understand how hard the task has been. We now understand pretty much everything about NTFS and we have documented it for the benefit of others: http://linux-ntfs.sourceforge.net/ntfs/index.html
Actually writing the driver was far simpler than gathering the information.
Oh you don't like it? Ofcourse we won't cache your pages then, we'll even make sure your pages are completely removed from our index. From now on a search on New York Times will give nothing but gay porn. If there's anything else we can do for you don't hesitate to ask. Thank you!

4G is the future. It's supposed to be a combination of all these techniques. When I'm in a city I'm connected trought high speed Wi-Fi, when I get out of range i move seemless over to 2 Mbit UMTS (3G) getting further away I'm on 115k GPRS.
All this is great. The problem is how to get operators to cooperate, so I can move seemlessly between different networks and know what price i pay.
The National Supercomputer Centre in Sweden use multiply Linux beowulf clusters as well as supercomputers like the SGI Origin 3800. The fastest Linux cluster places 51 among the 500 fastest computers in the world.Monolith consists of over 200 PC computers. Each computer has two Intel Xeon processors at 2.2 GHz, 2 GBytes primary memory (ECC DDR). They're all used for research and development.
The advanages of clusters is allot of power at low cost. How well they perform compared to ordinary supercomputers depends on the task.
24-bit PNG:s with transparency are great. It definitely fills a purpose, but for some reasons it has not become widely used. Let's say you create an image with a shadow, using 24-bit PNG:s you don't have to think about what background it will be used on. The whole color range of the site can be changed without having to change any images, just by loading another style sheet.
Unfortunately IE doesn't support 24-bit PNG:s and transparency as it should, but you can make it work using this hack.

Intel has decided to rename their Celteron CPU to Intel Xeon, the old Xeon will further on be labeled Xeon Hi-Speed.
It will automatically home in on the police when thrown by violent demonstrators.
for the 99 dollars it really stands as very affordable for the home user also.
If you value 10 minutes of work for installing java and flash to $99, then it's definitely affordable.
I think they made the adress space so large, so that even if american companies gets 99% of it and Asia get 0.01%, it won't be a problem.
It's as safe as windows 2000 sp3 with updated IIS 5.0 listening on port 80 and 21.

Well i don't know, i think kids already spend enought time with games like Counter Strike.

No sorry, it's not supported at all
But I heard Slackware could be installed on anything.
