I think you are a little off the mark with this statement: the new fangled 21st century media, the video game
It is not new or even of the 21st century and there is no proof that it will be the media of the century. Something is very likely to replace it; after all, we have another 95 years.
They grey area is who gets to judge if it is parody, criticism, and/or commentary? I could rip someone's site off to sell my product and cry "parody" when they come knocking.
If the student had at least made some sort of disclaimer effort, the line would be much sharper in this case.
Before my father retired, he worked with the FAA. After examining multiple Russian (Soviet-era) built commercial aircraft, he came to the conclusion that he would never ride in one. They were using vacuum tubes and some of the superstructures contained wood framing. I don't know if this is still the case.
The markets may be somewhat saturated, but for Dell to keep the Axim competitive, they have to move it into the mobile market as handheld gadgets converge. The only other choice would be drop the product.
One helpful Groklaw reader went so far as to put up this analysis of the complaint on his Web site and quickly had his server turned into a smoldering pile of ashes after the link was posted on Slashdot.
No, the real expense is what the bride wants to spend. I don't know many women who are going to settle for the *minimal* when it comes to their wedding.
They should do something like this every year. They have the Grammies, Emmys, etc., why not the Nerdies? They could use Slashdot sections as the categories.
Further blaming the shipping company, she explained that "this was not an Ameritrade Systems issue or a compromise of our technology. This was related to a third party vendor."
No, it's an Ameritrade-picking-a-bad-vendor issue. It is still ultimately Ameritrade's fault.
Replace "lecture" with "movie" and see if your theory still applies.
A movie, book, song, etc., is a creative work of value to be sold. Lectures are public domain just like free and open speech in a public arena. BTW - This comment is Copyright (c) 2005 lbm.

I'd be interested to hear how many Slashdotters can claim to have Celine Dion in their music collections.
I wish my wife was one of those who wanted a minmal wedding.

Apparently you are not part of that community?
