Sorry, Java has not been out for 10 years yet. I think this comment is rather funny joke or just a complete lack of the author's programming knowledge.
I think the fancy graphics destroy the real game behind M.U.L.E - I'm sure people who played on the C64 would understand this - maybe some should make a pda version (with c64 graphics!)
Corporations that have invested millions into Microsoft products and compatibility will not switch over. If anyone has business experience, they'll understand this - that's the reason that most lawyers use WP instead of Office.
Sounds like advertising is not cutting it - just the same story as every dot com. Without people paying and advertisers getting an incredible response, I don't think, as far as business case goes, that slashdot can survive.
I know this upsets everyone, but thats the reality and nature of the global economy.
selling a company is sometimes the only way to grow it. OptimizeIt is a good product, but I think they lack the marketing push that companies like Borland have. A very simillar thing happened with Numega when they were bought buy Compuware (although they haven't made stellar strides yet!)
I've had the same problem - i'm experiencing it again - my mouse will start freaking out after a while or just give up. I've replaced several of them luckily I bought them from costco and they take everything back even if it's broken - I've had problems with microsoft in the past - it's always the consumers fault.
I think this is more hype than anything else - these days there apis and sdks for everything that you don't need. Who's going to use these wireless games with our current technology - those who think WAP is in for good?
My cable modem uses this technique because I was able to ping one of their internal hosts (I'm not 100% sure why) before. Trace route shows the same as step 12
I'm aware of this because I was going to sign up with some of my friends at work - but all said, I think the concept of a game calling you anytime of the day spooked people after wtc events.
I get the same e-mails, and to be honest, I sick of people begging to out-source our software development when it is our core focus. I personally have worked with another corporation who outsourced the work to india only to have a poor outcome. At the end, we had to do everything ourselves and it cost us more time and money.
I think one of the problems with majestic was after Sept. 11 people became paranoid - and I quite honestly people don't want to be harassed by phone calls when threats of Anthrax and who knows what is on CNN. The idea was good and creative, the timing was bad.
The problem is that your old isp has your dns records in their system, but their web servers don't know about your domain (thus pointing it to the default or first one). You need to make sure that all the root servers point to the correct dns and ask your old isp to remove your zone from their configuation files (on masters and slaves).
Windows is a trademark and the name Lindows implies that it is somehow related. I think Microsoft has every right to make them change their name. I'm sure McDonalds would not allow you to start a burger joint with the name MacDonalds.
Hopefully the Linux community will understand that Microsoft has a point, and that it has nothing to do with softare.
I think the reason why people use exchange is because of the stronghold Microsoft has over it's Windows Server market. We use exchange here, and I have to admit that it makes the users happy (because outlook integrates perfectly with it), but from an operations stand point, it's not that good. Looking at exchange from a development standpoint, it's clear that it definately has Unix roots - in fact most of the real tools for exchange can only be run from the command line (go figure from the company that shuns anything non-gui).
IMHO it's the users and msce/consultants that want exchange.
I've been running XP for the past two months and have had several compatibility issues with my day-to-day software - including Outlook/Exchange 2000. I wasn't too surprised to find that XP is much more vulnerable to viruses than 2000. I feel that microsoft has a little more control over my use of XP - passport, sending bug reports everytime an app halts (even non-ms ones).
If I had some extra time I would move back to 2000 until XP matures a little more, although it is considered Windows 5.1.
We're getting hit every day by a virus, although our virus detection software picks it up, I help wondering why microsoft products have so many security flaws.
Wouldn't you think that they would pull their socks up by now? It's not enough to say that microsoft makes bad software because they're microsoft or some large conglomerate. There must be a reason why (besides saying use linux).
Does anyone have any benchmarks that compare SAP DB to other DBs?
How easy is it to repair an SAP DB?

sounds like a product plug rather than an article.

Clue Browser
HTMLArea Component
Netbeans (Sun's open source java ide) uses the icebrowser and for the most part it's pretty good.

maybe a consulting company beginning with A
exactly - this is so consulting companies can rape end users for things the software should have.

i think you're missing the point
I think the problem is that software developers are rushed to get products to market and security is not usually considered a "marketing feature".

Consumer and office applications have merged much more over the past few years - I use the same office/internet apps at work and at home.
