To those that think that retaliation is not the answer.... Look. The amount of people who have died is most likely more than the amount that died in Perl Harbor. It maybe MORE then the amount of Americans that died in Vietnam! If that many innocent civilian people died in this terrorist attack, then imagine if they hit again with an even larger attack. What if they used biological weapons. If we don't retaliate, its open season on us. It's open season on anyone they have a problem with.
To not act is giving them the green light. What we need to do is provide methods to not only stop them before they have a chance to board those planes, etc... but to stop them before they start trying to plan.
My thoughts go out to those who have lost any family and friends in what has transpired today.

I about creamed my pants reading that.. since my budget is restricted by my own personal bank account manager (read...my wife..) its tough to get a "loan" approval to build some badly needed servers. Currently I could only muster up a dual ppro 200 and a sketchy p200.. The ppro does fine for now, but I need something with a little more power. Dual proc durons would be a great, cheap alternative to dual proc pIII's or the athalon mps! Yea!
Don't magazines/news/film people normal have people sign a waiver/legal paper saying its ok to use their name/image in their magazine/show/film?
It seems to me that the police never did that with this poor guy. Thus giving the photo/video to newspaper agencies who then made money on his image. Seems to me this opens a nice lawsuit aimed at both the police and the newpapers.
Wow, we just got our first venture capital of 5mil! I am definately going to celebrate by purchasing EVERY SINGLE ONE of my employees a brand new Aeron chair. Even the mail boy gets one!
After that, I'll take em out to GameWorks and Tacos to celebrate the purchase of our Aeron Chairs. Of course, that means we will have to move the celebration that commerates the celebration of me buying my new 911.

I have been waiting for the release of OS X for years, back when they were trying to get copland put together... But I moved to the pc world and the ease of buying parts for cheap and installing them yourself is SOOOOO nice.
Macs are just too damn expensive. If the price would drop for a decent g4, I would probably by one.
To Be or not to Be... that is the question...
BeOS would be sorely missed if the buyer closed the Desktop down.:( I have been following Be ever since they announced BeOS and BeBoxes. I had hoped they would do well and be a viable alternative to windows and the MacOS. It's a shame they never really did, because it made both windows and macos look like old grandmas.
I just could never get my SB Live working on it last time I tried.
Many computers some of us here at slashdot may think of as disposables can come to great use for underprivilaged kids, schools, non-profit orgs, etc...
I know there is freenet, but has anyone actually thought of/proposed several networks for this? Something like your pornnet, biznet, pubnet, schoolnet, etc?
