Ah, according to an article which was subsequently posted, it appears that this is being spread through the Drudge site.

Maybe I should spend more time personally monitoring the right wing.

  2. A question on RNC and Voter Suppression · · Score: 2, Interesting
It looks like the standard right wing talking point response to this story is to mention a DNC document (usually citing the same Rocky Mountain News story) in which it is said:
If no signs of intimidation techniques have emerged yet, launch a pre-emptive strike.
It's well known that the right wing is really good about distributing these talking points and hammering away on them in a consistent fashion. My question is: where is this particular point being coordinated from? Is it though a web site like Free Republic, or through the propaganda channels in the more traditional media outlets, e.g. Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly, etc? I've been following these things on the left, but am curious about how the right is operating.

I have a feeling that you're trolling, but I'll bite anyway. There is much debate regarding the definition of atheism. Most self-identifying atheists define it as a "lack of belief in deities". Many theists and flame warriors define it as "belief in a lack of deities". Some people lack the ability to distinguish the two positions. Some people claim that the first position is actually "agnosticism", while others will reply that "agnosticism" means a belief that the truth or falsehood of the existence of deities is unknowable, and will point to the definition of Aldous Huxley, who coined the term.

I may have left out some positions in the flame war. Feel free to add any that I missed.

I'm fortunate enough to live in an area with a good number of great noncommercial radio stations (my favorite being KFJC). These stations offer actual programs with different styles of music (or talk) that you typically won't find on the bland and offensively inoffensive corporate stations.

If, for example, I love bluegrass, but I'm not near a radio when a good bluegrass show is on, then it would be nice if I had a device that could record the program for later enjoyment. This is an issue for me because the radio reception in my office is terrible.

I'm not sure about this particular product though. I haven't read the fucking article yet.

The presidential election is one of many happening this year. Every seat in the House of Representatives is up for grabs, as well as about a third of the Senate, and numerous state and local elections. I don't think the Green Party is endorsing Democratic candidates in most of those.

The presidential election is a special case, both in general (because of the Electoral College and the fact that a lack of a majority there means that the decision goes to the House), and this election in particular (many people think the Bush administration is HITLER SATAN 666).

  12. California on Microsoft faces Monopoly Lawsuit (again) · · Score: 1

A couple things to keep in mind are:

    • Thanks to prop 13, California doesn't get as much of its revenue from property tax as other states do, so it has to rely on other means of taxation.
    • California sends more tax money to the federal government than it gets back in spending, so it doesn't get the free bonus that more rural, Republican-voting states do.

Fortunately, my salary is a lot higher than it would be in most other states, so I can afford it. Still kinda sucks though.

After the humans acquired FTL tech from the Outsiders and won the war, the kzin had sort of a crisis regarding their place in the universe. Though I think this had more to do with finding another race that could defeat them than the FTL technology.

It puts files where software developers intend them to be instead of second-guessing them. It doesn't try to tie you in to nonstandard admin tools. These last two points make finding answers on the internet a lot more productive, since you have to spend less effort trying to adjust the information to your machine.
