If the alein planet were found to be rich in a valuable natural resource, do you think this would change Earth's reaction?

If we have a warp engine then valuable resources are abundant without having to affect any civilization. Earth based conflict is inherently because of the limited resources we have, those limits disappear with interstellar travel so their would be no reason to treat them any different.

I don't believe at this current juncture that they can be profitable AND survive and this I suspect is more the reason why they have not turned that knob as they are still trying to figure out how the fuck they can turn a profit while not destroying the business.

The reality is if you have a good business that is profitable you will easily be able to handle cash flow through finance arrangements. My parents before they retired had a very healthy profitable business but the seasonal nature and large upfront investment meant it had extremely poor cash flow, but as it was profit they had no issues with maintaining a 200k overdraft account. IF your business is profitable and healthy you won't have issues handling cash flow.

I would truly love people to actually get it and would celebrate if they did but I work in security every day and I see people even in IT and security that don't get it. convenience is just more important to them up until something goes wrong.
