I do it because I think its fun, and I don't let it become my identity, which it appears is what you have done.

There is nothing wrong with 'gamer' being an identity. Just because you don't think that it is part of your indentity doesn't mean that someone else shouldn't. I am more than happy to let others see me as a gamer. Now, you might be getting laid more often than me, but that's besides the point.

  4. Burnout! on Gaming Suggestions For A Non-Gamer? · · Score: 1
Burnout is more fun than any driving game I've ever played. The game is unique in that it rewards you for driving wrecklessly. When you drive on the wrong side of the street or narrowly miss hitting a car, your boost meter fills up. This mechanic creates a lot of tension and suspense. Also, the game has an excellent sense of speed.

They have versions for all three systems, however the xBox and Gamecube versions are considered to be more polished.

  5. Here are some stats... on 60G Nomad Zen vs. The iPod · · Score: 3, Informative
These stats compare the 20 GB Zen with the 30 GB iPod. Compiled from here and here.

    Size
    iPod: 4.1 x 2.4 x 0.73 inches
    Zen: 3 x 4.4 x 1 inches

    Weight
    iPod: 6.2 ounces
    Zen: 9.5 ounces

It should also be noted that the Zen can get FM radio stations with an optional remote control and can use USB 2 or Firewire. The iPod has a bigger screen, but it can only use Firewire. In addition to mp3 format, the Zen supports WMA and WAV. The iPod supports mp3 and AAC audio.

I remember reading that John C is going to cap the FPS on Doom3 to like 30 or 40 FPS per seconds. I'm hoping so, I bet he is tired of people grading video cards by how many FPS they can get Quake 3 running.

Imagine the effect that this would have on the hardware industry. I can almost see Carmack saying "Moore's law ends...NOW!" as he releases the new Doom to the public.

  10. Re:i'm lazy, spell it out please. on New MP3 License Terms Demand $0.75 Per Decoder · · Score: 1

This would not be a smart idea. No matter what program you use, if you make an ogg from an mp3 the quality will be terrible. You should only make recordings from the original source. You should only follow that course of action as a last resort.

Actually, the modems operate on a 900mhz digital spread spectrum. There are even some models of AT&T cordless phones that can cause the ricochet to fail entirely.

It should be noted that Ricochet poll-tops communicate with each other at 2.3ghz which is the spectrum that metricom owns the rights to.
