  1. Epson 8088 on 45-Year-Old Modem Used To Surf the Web · · Score: 1

I have an Epson 8088 with a 20MB hard drive and CGA graphics. I'm pretty sure its modem is 2400 baud but that was a latter addition. It still makes an excellent Frogger machine.

I would have to think it's about 20 years old but it was a gift from my parents to my sister and me for Christmas and I have no recollection of what year that was.

    That's no good.

I've got a running 8088 with 20 MB HD. Plays Frogger and Dig Dug really well.

Why don't the IDers slip in a different spin:

I went to a Jesuit high school and had a fairly progressive priest as a teacher for a required ethics class. A student asked what he thought about reconciling creationism with modern science and his answer was basically the above. Who put the stuff there to start the big bang? What was before the big bang?

It's not definitively clarified. With a 5-4 decision and the possibility of a liberal court in the future, this ruling could get over turned.

Amazon has WiiPlay in stock right now. I have it. It really isn't worth it but for only $10 more than a Wiimote, it's not that bad.

  8. Non-Cup-O-Noodles Better on Father of Instant Ramen Passes Away · · Score: 1

Personally, I much prefer the Ramen that comes in the bag instead of the styrofoam cup. For whatever reason, it tastes better; there are more noodles; and it's cheaper. Also, unless you dump out your Cup-O-Noodles--defeating the purpose of the styrofoam--it's much easier to customize the bagged noodles.

Second it is suicide only with older US aircraft....

Most older aircraft, yes, but it was possible and did happen with an F4:

Once again, he met the MiG-17 head-on, this time with an offset so he couldn't fire his guns. As he pulled up vertically he could again see his determined adversary a few yards away. Still gambling, Cunningham tried one more thing. He yanked the throttles back to idle and popped the speed brakes, in a desperate attempt to drop behind the MiG. But, in doing so, he had thrown away the Phantom's advantage, its superior climbing ability. And if he stalled out ...

The MiG shot out in front of Cunningham for the first time....

I like the idea behind Timex's pager watch but they are a pain in the a$$ to use. I wonder if it's possible for Microsoft to actually improve something.

  14. This is a really old article on Yet Another Article on Hacking · · Score: 1

I remeber reading this article in the fall or thereabouts of 1998. I would think that CNN would come up with a more updated version of this article and not just run it again to be part of the recent hacker fad. When MTV has done a special on something ("I've been hacked" -Serena Altchul when she really just forgot her password) then it is really mainstream. CNN has just tarnished their image with this re-post in my opinion.
