Low-pass filtering will not reconstruct the input sine wave as you believe. I have uploaded a short
SPICE analysis of the first 10us of the waveforms in your first example, (http://euphoria.org/home/help/nyquist.html)

    The SPICE analysis is at

    http://www.geociti es. com/Athens/Atlantis/1798/misc/294f998d.htm

Turn javascript off to kill the web bug.

As you can see, the output waveform after low-pass filtering resembles more closely the "connect-the-dots" stick figure than it does the sine wave input signal.

Correction. Site D shows the nice input/output waveforms.

Had it correct in the original, before Windows crashed.

Site A and C are correct. There is a problem with the url for site B.

Site C shows a nice input/output waveform but does not address the problem of how to achieve it.

Site A and C show you cannot reconstruct a waveform with two samples per cycle. In fact, as one site mentions, if the samples happen to fall on the zero-crossing, the resulting output is zero regardless of the amplitude of the sampled waveform.

Tektronix and Hewlett-Packard use 4 to 5 samples/cycle in their discussions on sampling scopes. The more samples/cycle, the better.

Finally, another human who understands how valuable a real keyboard is. I find the old 84 much faster and easier to use than the later versions. The Ctrl-Alt-Caps keys seem to be located to break your fingers every time you try to use them.

Does anyone know where to get an 84-key AT keyboard these days? I purchased 6 new ones many years ago, hoping they would last the rest of my life.

Unfortunately, I seem to be living longer than planned, and I'm down to my last one.

I was wondering how an IP company with no fab could end up with sweeping patents on all the current memory designs: SDRAM, DDR, RDRAM, etc. How could they do all the work needed to create these technologies, and what was the rest of the industry doing at the time?

The answer is simple. Outright theft. The Register posted an article on Hitachi's response to the Rambus suit. Rambus stole the work of the JEDEC community and patented the information obtained in the meetings.

You can read the article (in two parts) starting at

Sounds like they took a page from the Microsoft operating manual.

    win.

Another thing would be a simple change to
browsers so the do not open a new page as
soon as you click on a link. Just change
the color of the link to indicate the
download is in progress. In fact, the link
could be made into a small progress bar
showing how much of the download was
    complete.

That way, a viewer could select several
pages he wants to see, and go to the first
    one that is ready.

This would save a lot of time on long
    SlashDot pages!

Another example - they predict the market will be worth 100 billion dollars. They give no justification for this figure, or even define a relevant market. But if you are going to protect a 100 billion dollar market, you need more than one single patent. You need thousands.

I realize this will create problems when post approaches either limit - it will take the entire computing capacity of the universe to express the number.

But hey - computers are getting faster every year.

Also, the actual limits at infinity should be reserved for direct correspondence from dieties and representatives of higher powers.

These people know who they are, and will have no problem adjusting their level no matter what we do.
