  6. As the quote goes, "the planet doesn't need our help to survive, the planet needs our absence."

Why? It's not humans that cause mass extinctions... We've driven some species extinct. So what? Why do all you idiots have so much self hatred? 99.9% ... That's the percentage of species that have existed at some point on Earth and are now extinct. We didn't do it..

You people are weird.. You blame all humanity for some few small errors in judgement. If we disappeared tomorrow, how long for Earth to forget us? 1,000 years? 10,000? An eye blink in relation to how long life has existed.

Ultimately Earth is doomed anyhow.. Sun goes nova in maybe 4 to 5 billion years.. Life will be gone way before that.. Maybe 1 billion more years until the Sun swells to the point life is no longer possible on Earth. Humans are the only species that currently has any hope of escaping that fate.

Quit acting like humans are some aberration. We are the currently the pinnacle of evolution and, unlike any other animal on the planet, we alone can recognize our mistakes, as a species, and correct for them. We, alone, are the only hope that life has of existing beyond the death of the Sun.

You had it right up until the moment you started flapping on about pressing it 5 times. I don't have a Dash button, but even I know that you can only press it once every 24 hours (or something close to that). Stick to what you know and don't make shit up on the fly. Furthermore, all the shit is going to be delivered to YOU, and Amazon has a pretty fantastic return policy.. So, really, the worst case scenario is 1 or 2 orders before shit starts showing up and you can return most items for free...

The problem is, the user can't agree to this, without actually being shown what they are supposed to agree with. The relevant eCommerce laws say that the full and current price/ amount must be shown to the user, with an explicit acknowledgement that they are now ordering this quantity of items for this specified cost.

This button would be legal if it were equipped with an eInk display showing the current price/ quantity (and the legal fine print making it obvious that hitting the button will order it now).

Thanks for the explanation (seriously). After hearing that Amazon can substitute other items and also that the price can fluctuate, I get why the Germans aren't keen on this.. I don't have any Dash buttons, but if I can't be sure I'm going to get what I want, at a price I know about beforehand, I don't think I'll be getting any..

Are you simple? You have to be if you think there is such a thing as "free" wifi. Someone is paying for a line. It might not be the end user, but someone is paying someone else. Even at wholesale rates, it's still not cheap. Sure, you can get a residential 100mbit line downtown for under $100/month but you are prohibited from sharing it (contractually). So you have to buy the commercial line, at that will set you back at least $500/month.

Oh sure, they claim you can get access to the poles but, in reality, unless you are also a mega-player you won't. It's lip service to keep the peasants quiet.

100% true. But, you can directly blame the government for these problems. Local / state governments at least.. They have arranged, through law, the exclusion of competing internet services to maintain the monopoly or duopoly of the current system / incumbents.. The United States, today, doesn't really have much that resembles free capitalism. We have crony capitalism at best and an outright oligarchy at worst.

  23. That's because you haven't got a clue. AT&T tried this shit back in the 1930's (or thereabouts). They actually tried charging more, per call, depending on your target. I don't mean different cities either. I mean they wanted more money based on whom you were calling in the same city. i.e. trying to call the grocery store? that's one price.. Trying to call a hospital? That's a little more.

The term has a strict use. It's meant to assure reality in the face of skepticism. There is no shortage of words you could use that aren't self contradicting slang.

  25. Yeah? Then how the fuck are we going to convey the idea we are currently using the term "literally" for?
