I've never been quite clear on the distinction between a window manager and a desktop environment. What does a destop environment have, that a window manager doesn't?

On FoxNews this morning they mentioned that Bush has not changed his schedule at all. Meaning that he still is going to bed at his normal time and getting up and to work at 7:00. Just a little FYI that Bush propably wasn't half asleep when he said it.
...Apple did create Firewire-IEEE 1394-iLink...
As far as I know and many people in this thread seem to agreee, iLink is Sony's implemntation of Firewire.
I don't care that Britney Spears did not sign an agreement. I have bought a CD (acutally a liscense to the music on the CD). Under fair use I can listen to that CD, a tape of that CD, a.wav of that CD, a mp3 of that CD or a I can take the CD, set it on fire and listen to the sound of burning plastic for as long as I own that CD. Now why can't I put the cd in my drive, proving that I have this CD in my possesion, and listen to mp3s of that CD being streamed from a server on the internet? Explain please.

I really don't see the big deal in designing an app that works in all browsers. For me, it is part of my job, and yes I bitch about it but I am required to make it "work". Sometimes that involves kludgey work arounds, sometimes it involves designing two different versions of the same site, and sometimes it means dropping a bell there and a whistle here. Hell, at our office we have a guy who specializes in Netscape quirks, and he is great to have when things like this come up.
After just reinstalling, I would just like to point out that yes, IE does take you to a page to set MSN to your home page. BUT, even if you don't choose to make it your home page, it still wisks you off there until you set a new homepage. So many, many people hit msn.com just out of shear laziness. And people wonder why msn.com is like 2nd most popular site on the internet.
HomeCounSeller.com Wisconsin only, pretty new site. Has FSBO and MLS Listings and allows people to place thier home up for sale. But, all sales are done off-line.
Yes I am bias, I worked on it.
Just one quick point...There is no such thing as reverse discrimination. Racism is Racism, no matter if it is black on white, white on black or blue on green. It is racism.
Was there any outcome to that entire thing? I believe you are referring to the "crack this box" site that microsoft put up with a near final version of Windows 2000.
Having a port open on your computer is not the same has having an unlocked door. The analogy of port scanning to trying to open up doors does not hold true. And How can you even try to compare port scanning to rape?
I'm sorry, but why on gods good earth would have ports open, if you don't want people to use them. I'm sorry, but going with the doors and windows analogy, it is like having a door open, with a welcome sign on it, flashing, and then bitching when someone walks in.
Actually, I do know that, but I was testing the waters to see if this troll was going to bite. And apparently it didn't, but I managed to piss you off =)
Console Games don't lend themselves very well to a mouse/keyboard control. And Computer games don't lend themselves very well to a hand held controller. It's the nature of the beast. It is almost impossible to have a game be good on a console, and on the computer
I whole heartly agree, put the problem is what view do you use?? Do you have the view of one of the players? cameras? What if the match is really boring, how do you spice it up for the average joe? These questions need to be answered first.
This might not be the time nor place, but how can you justify saying that in 10 years time China and India will be superpowers??? Yeah, I'm from the U.S. and No, I'm not looking at this in a U.S.centric point of view. But seriously, why China and India?
I personally feel that the consoles won't so much be the first to go, in as much as professional gaming. The first wave of professional gamers will be the martyrs. Professional gaming will definately have a place, as soon as the games are developed with a spectator in mind. I have many friends that are gamers and quite enjoy watching them play, but I feel that I am in the majority.
Just some points that you made, that I'd like to emphasize.
ASP is not to be used alone. On any site that generates any traffic you will need to encapsulate most of your code into COM objects written either in VB or VC++. It makes the code cleaner, easier to understand, and faster. But this also means you have to master a scripting language, and at least be fluent in 1 or 2 more genuine, bonified, programming languages. Many ASP developers only know ASP, that's all the want to know and that is all they care to know. Also, I see way to many web designers calling themselves developers and way to many web developers calling themselves programmers.

Yes, I believe that was called "Who wants to marry a millionare." Another wonderful show brought to you by Fox Networks.
So, I like you music. How do I, an individual, make you more money?
So if I listen your music like nonstop for a month, do you make uber-amounts of cash?
So really the question is: What would make you more money?
One guy-> A hundred streams
OR
10 guys-> 10 streams each?
