    They aren't giving it away. They are charging up the ass for it. It's like opening up a new market to "punish" a company that broke the law.

    these things that are supposed to fix the market are retarded. Software needs to be treated like any other business.
    What needs to happen is that companies like dell need to be allowed to sell another os, without repricussions from microsoft.

    Just like the government had to step if and force Boeing to offer other engines on their jets than just prat+whitney.
    It's lame to think that just because it's software special rules apply.

    I didn't create the situation the manufacturers did.
    If even one manufacturer provided good linux support I would buy their pci card. Closed source doesn't count as good support. Open docs does.

    Right now I have an atheros card and it's ok. I don't like having to compile a seperate set of modules.

    I misunderstood how this page worked. It is still useless because it's filled with a bunch of cards no longer sold.

    An actually usefull page would be one with links to actual places you can purchase the card. Someone could make some money linking to amazon or something. The truth is no one knows which card to buy it's a roulette thing.

    I'm a car guy, just not into that whole German thing. I can't tell you the difference between the mercedes. The corvette is a chevy model because it's not a luxury car. There are luxury version of it from Cadillac.

    the annoying thing about cars these days I find is that muscle and sports cars tend to also be luxury cars. Perhaps, it's just because I don't like leather.

    no when you ask most people, they do care. They simply want a fast cpu for little money. They have no way to compare cpu's. Or at least a more confusing way of comparing them. This move makes people less educated about this stuff.

    I've totally lost track of all the processors and what they do. Things were much easier when there was just pentium, celeron, amd.

    looks to me that amd wins the tests of doing stuff that people do. While intel wins some kind of synthetic benchmark.

    be more transparent. There are alot of things you could to help your cause. Showing rejected story list may be nice. I trully doubt only one user posted that story. If it's true that he was the only one to catch it then if people knew it they might be more ok with it.
    That's one way to be more transparent, you may have to be creative to think of others.

    One more thing.
    Denying that what happened was suspicious is calling your community stupid.
    Also try having the editors perticipate in a conversation about them and directly answer some of the comments(not sure if this hasn't happened, but it didn't when I was looking at it.).

    The truth is that your original post was light on substance but heavy on the use of marketing words like "exciting".
    You made statements without qualifying them. Why is it exciting? How will it change the way we communicate?
    Furthermore how can it change the way you communicate, if you program in java?
    Your post made little sense, yet was filled with marketing words. That's why. There was little to disagree about.

    I'm not gonna spend hours looking for something that doesn't exist.

    Even supposedly linux shops like emperor linux sell laptops with the windows tax paid. They have poor selection and will sell you a wifi card for which only closed source drivers are available. Or I could just get a dell, and since I'm buying it through my department that makes it easy. Also I get a reasonably priced contract for the hardware.

    Dell is the wall-mart of computers and I can't buy a cheap alternative to the mainstream through dell. For everything you could buy at wall-mart you can buy a generic version. Sometimes you can't get the name brand. There is no price competition on x86 computers.
