  1. "Doug-Doug" on Fear of Girls, a D&D Documentary · · Score: 1

The actor who plays Doug-Doug is relatively known in the Minneapolis independent film community, and does some commercial work as well. See him as Royce Warwick, pizza lawyer, in this Donatos Pizza campaign.

  2. Re:Almost Identical to a Type 6 on Slashback: Dry Mars, Wet Doc, Keyboard Teaser · · Score: 2, Insightful

    It's not for typing.

There are several applications that use an incredible number of essential keyboard shortcuts.

I work at a video editing firm, and every Avid suite has a custom, color-coded keyboard. This sort of thing is very useful in non-typing situations. If it was context-sensitive, and would display the new commands when you go into, say, After Effects, your work would get done faster.

This is for the video editor who switches between Avid and Final Cut Pro. Or the 3d animator who switches between 3DS Max and Lightwave. Or the photographer using both Photoshop and Aperture. Or one person using more than one of these programs.

  3. Re:as a // on Nasty Bad Men Are Using Encryption · · Score: 1

I believe there's a strong difference here, but it's possible that I'm not being completely objective here. When you encrypt something, you're just denying other people access to that information. The information might be good, bad, neutral, a recipe for lima bean soup, whatever. All you're doing is making sure nobody but it's intended recipient has access to it. When you have a gun, however, the only thing you're going to do with it is shoot something. In my view, this is inherently harmful (I don't condone hunting and I don't support the death penalty). Of course, if only the government has guns, then the government can oppress us with greater ease. So I guess my now-offtopic viewpoint is that all guns should be destroyed.

  4. Re:it's gonna be wonderful! on Final Fantasy: The Movie · · Score: 1

FF1, 2, and 3 were available on the 8-bit NES, not on the SNES. 2 and 3 were only released in Japan. I'm *pretty sure I'm correct here.

  5. Re:I wish this had come up before I came here!!! on H1B Tech Visa Workers Being Deported From U.S. · · Score: 1

I guess I don't see where this comes from. I've read most of the posts here, and the general feeling doesn't seem xenophobic or offensive to immigrants. Most people are taking the reasonable stance that if you agree to a 6-year term, then you should either be prepared to leave after the 6 years, or do something to change the status from "temporary" to "permanent". It seems that the "true feelings of americans" towards people like you is that you're like anyone else, and should abide by an agreement.

Tell me, why the resentment then?

    > (yea, flame on, but that is a different set of mutants (Fantastic 4))

Are the F4 considered mutants in the Marvel Universe? They weren't born with their abilities, but rather acquired them after a space mission when awry (or something). I suppose there's still mutation involvd, but does Marvel refer to them as mutants?

  7. Re:This is highly unreliable on Cell phones used to track traffic · · Score: 1

You're making an incorrect assumption as to how it is determined that there is congestion. According to the article, congestion is determined not by the amount of cell activity in a given area, but by how fast each cellphone is moving. Therefore, congestion in south SF will be just as accurately determined as congestion in downtown San Jose.
