  1. Re:Profanity on Microsoft Now Has the Best Device Lineup in the Industry (char.gd) · · Score: 1

I never said I was opposed to all profanity. I am also sorry that your are so stressed out, and that my simple comment seems to have increased that stress.

  2. Profanity on Microsoft Now Has the Best Device Lineup in the Industry (char.gd) · · Score: 1

Regarding this summary, it seems to me that acceptance of casual profanity in public places is linked to the degradation of our culture. Whether it is a cause or effect cannot easily be determined; perhaps it is both. Where does it end? I will attempt to do my part by neither partaking nor supporting those who do.

  3. Preeeetty sure that's just footage from Sewer Shark. This is fake news.

    Long live the Sega CD!

  5. Re:Median annual wage? on Google Starts Certificate Program To Fill Empty IT Jobs (axios.com) · · Score: 1

I think your second point is the more important one; the first is just conjecture. For your second point, I think you are right on. If Google can succeed at this, all they will have likely done is proven the jobs weren't highly skilled in the first place. If that's the basic truth, wages will fall due to market forces.

  6. Re:I kinda stopped reading on Ask Slashdot: How Many Books Do You Read a Month? · · Score: 1

I liked sci-fi, but couldn't find any books full of pointless and gratuitous sex and violence.

Might be missing a word in that sentence ;)

  7. Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis on Ask Slashdot: What Are You Reading This Month? · · Score: 1

Though much of the book is timeless, it is interesting to recognize throughout the text the immediacy of WWII and the effects it had on Lewis's thinking and work.

  8. The article isn't worded very well, but looking at the pictures, I think it simply means wherever the console *used* blue before, that blue color will now be brighter. AFAIK, the default *background* has always been black for good old cmd.exe.

  9. Several reasons... on Ask Slashdot: Why Do So Many of You Think Carrying Cash Is 'Dangerous'? · · Score: 5, Insightful

Like any decision, it isn't just cost, but cost/benefit. If I basically never need cash, why carry it? The risk is really small, sure, but the benefit is small, too. Second, I misplace things.

  10. Wait a minute, "Miss Mash"? I always thought this was a Hulk-like nick, "m SMASH!!!" Guess it's all in how one sees the world.
