What I want to see is cities that take a chance and build the infrastructure to handle mass public transportation along with normal roads.

The two years I spent in NY gave me a love for the subway... so much that 8 years later I still get misty eyed when I think about it. It's such a perfect system.

But alas, I moved back to Tulsa, where everyone and their dog drives to work and so I do too. I can never expect the city to actually build GOOD public transports, because of the land area they would need to cover. So as much as I'd love to have it, I'm still relegated to driving. Anything that makes transportation more automatic is better, if you ask me. I waste 8-10 hours a week in simple commutes... 8-10 hours I could use for something I want to do. And I know there are plenty of others who waste more time than that.

btw, buses aren't the answer until there are more buses that go to more places. I don't have a bus stop near either my home or workplace.

Anyway, if you'd actually sit down and watch the show, you might be surprised that RDA can in fact be something other than the 80's TV show. He's really an amazing actor... to the tune that I don't believe the show would ever be as good without him. Of course, he's one of the producers too, so the show may not even BE without him. :)

How conscious are you if you can no longer tell me what 2 + 1 is?

If consciousness is not computation, but only the ability to compute, then finite computation only means that the portion of consciousness devoted to computation be finite. The rest of consciousness can still be infinite, containing other infinite abilities.

While it isn't a public service announcement about fuzzy bunny getting more hair 'down there', it is, in fact, social commentary. And in my opinion, it is the best kind.

Why are there people in the world that insist on trying to push their ideals on to the rest of the population? I'm a firm believer in the fact that if a person doesn't want to feel a certain way, they won't. And pushing harder will only push them farther away from your viewpoint. The only solution is to provide examples of your viewpoint and hope that people agree.

And back to my original example... Windwaker did just that. It doesn't force the view upon you, it just makes it's point and carries on.

Really, you find yourself just wanting to keep playing. And the emphasis has been taken from hard game play to concentrating on telling a story. I love it.

Please?! If only the Gimp was like this, I would use it. It would be a learning curve, but I could do it. 20. DirecTV Cable on Cable TV Versus Satellite TV? · · Score: 1

I, for some reason, always believed the hype about satellite fading, etc. But I was really wanting a Tivo, and managed a free DirecTivo reciever for signing up with DirecTV. btw, in case you don't know, the DirecTivo has no built-in encoder, so it can't record off-the-air shows. No biggie for me.

Anyway, back to the topic, I was amazed at just how good the sat picture was compared to cable. Digital cable's compression scheme is *horrible*, and I had no idea. The best way I can compare it, is the difference between DVD and VHS. Seriously. Whether you compare the regular cable channels or the digital channels, I think you'll be shocked at the difference.

Also, I installed my own dish, which wasn't very hard. I shoot for an 80 or higher signal on a few random transponders, and it works fine. In the Oklahoma thunderstorms I'll get some dropout, but I'd say that is only once every few months. And if you really want to compare, 'rain fade' goes away within a few minutes, the Cable stays out for hours at least before it's fixed.

Honestly, the cable companies seem like political candidates to me. I originally looked at switching because their commercials were really getting on my nerves. The Tivo just added value.
