I get the sneaking suspicion that this isn't about Netflix, but the music lobbies' actions in TN. If this were just a Netflix problem they'd limit the number of IPs and terminate your account your account when you went over a certain limit. No, this is about something different. People tend to conflate illegal with immoral and this is a push to make it clear in the public's consciousness that sharing your account as an immoral act.
It isn't even about hacking or anonymity or even the United States. Those terms simplify it too much. History is just repeating itself and and has been since the Greeks.
Anonymous is just the modern day version of the Bomb Wielding Anarchist. They really weren't the huge threat they were often made out to be, but they committed one massive, unforgivable sin, they insulted the validity of the law.
I think I could do without the Amy intro on every episode. Every time I see it I stop for a moment and wonder if the BBC has done a UK re-working of The Ghost Whisperer.
Agreed. It does seem a bit fishy. But if we are going to bite, I guess I would suggest K&R C and a good book on discrete math.
I wish someone had suggested K&R C to me in the beginning instead of mucking my way through more complicated languages. It is compact, dense and the exercises do the job. And discrete math, well I lucked out and it was one of the easy maths for my major (history), but it ended up being invaluable (ended up writing code for a living). It is one of those things they really should teach in high school (at least they didn't in mine).
As far as Office and that jazz, just spend a couple hours on YouTube. There are some great tutorials on how to use Excel. As far as OSes are concerned, unless you plan on building one, general usage is the best teacher.
"If they're smart, they'll look into new personal hacking systems like Arduino, they'll get back into home automation, and they'll position themselves as the place to get all of the stuff needed to tie differing systems together. "
While I think it is a great idea, I wouldn't be too surprised if their agreements with Parallax, Inc. bar it. Just my opinion, but I think they should carry some micro controller kit that runs around the $30 range (something like the butterfly). They have the $100 basic stamp kits, but that is a tad much for parents to spend for their kids (given that they'd expect it to ends up in the corner unopened, so you might as well put it in the crystal radio kit price range). Something cheap and easy that gives results fast.
Didn't mean, Cunningham, never even heard about him doing this. The last guy I remember going through the "I'm about to do Neuromancer" rumor mill was Joseph Kahn.
As much as I'd (in theory) really like to see this movie, I can't imagine not being completely let down by it, even it is being done by the same guy who did the wonderfully craptastic Cube (not knocking it, it was just kinda low budget). I can't imagine a modern audience doing anything but laughing at all the neon, Jamaican piloted space ships and a 3D internet. You'd probably have to remove those entirely and then what do you have?
On the plus side, Gibson has always said to take the idea of there being a Neuromancer movie with a grain of salt. The last time this movie was in "pre-production" it was being directed by some guy whose only experience was directing Britney Spear videos. I won't believe this one until I have a ticket in my hand. So yeah, I'll watch it, if it is finished, but I can't say I'd expect much.
The article didn't specifically say that it would be released under that license, but that Microsoft.VisualBasic.dll and part of the 3.5.NET libraries had. No real word on what this will be, though you are probably right.
If I could I'd mod this insightful, I would. Even if it is MS looking for an easy out, at least it follows OSS's golden rule: Leave not your users, maintainers and customers completely and totally screwed.
For whatever reason, NASA is like flame for hacker's moths. They have interesting, groundbreaking research, a budget and lets be honest, they have things in orbit, but they aren't going to shoot you in the head like other agencies who may or may not have things up there. .
I feel like we are still in the infancy of all of this and many companies are going to make the mistake that some of their previous successes in DLC are "how business is done" and it just becomes another checkbox on the game development list that becomes exploited in a more miserly fashion with each new iteration. Thankfully there have been huge blunders (horse armor) that pointed companies in better directions. So I'm not too worried on that one.
The one thing that does bug me is that DLC seems to be driving some developers, who would have otherwise have taken chances that were as striking and original as their earlier titles, to make luke warm follow-ups and then add DLC (why can't we just call it an expansion pack?) that takes the risks that fans of the original were hoping for in the first place. Granted it is just hedging your bet, but I'm afraid it may drive gameplay back instead of pushing it forward.
Depends on how they do it. I'd wager that most gamers would rate other gamers less on their body count and more on, "was that guy a total dick". If it goes this direction I'd see this as a plus because no one likes getting screamed at and told that their entire family should die in a fire 2 seconds after spawning. It would cause player retention to go up as well as getting rid of some pointless intimidation for new players. Hell, I would pay more just to have the jerks weeded out. If I'm wrong and most gamers really do care that much about body count, this is a doomed idea.
That would only be applicable if it were a trademark dispute over the term "upgrade", in this case it is about something much more lucrative, payment methods.
I'm curious to see Apple's response. Buy Lodsys and lock everyone else out?
If they are censoring sites (doesn't look like it at the moment), then yes, you are right. Comcast's service isn't a service that connects you to the internet, it is Comcast's "internet product". The farmer guarantees that his product is 100% cheese, except and only except when it is not cheese.
At least that leaves McDowell as the only commissioner left who suggests that the FCC should be sued back into the stone age whenever the FCC decides, that it maybe, might consider to think about doing anything. Not that it matters, it is all theater anyway.
Then you had better be prepared for Todd Hollenshead to show up at your house with a gun and demand that you drop down the console and type 'id studio'. Expect it.

Good, in the long run I've found myself enjoying the tighter budget episodes a bit more. Keeps the writers on their toes.

I'm so going to take up asbestos siding removal when I'm 90. Hell, I'll do that and X-Ray tech. Suck on that risk management!

I'm guessing you have never done anything with telephony.

Thanks. Too bad though.

I thought the WBC thing was just WBC members getting attention so they could start up a round of lawsuits from honeypots?

I guess by that measure, whatever amount it takes to keep the worst of the worst from playing.
This is true. A total failure on my part.

Don't forget the 10 million or so people who hear, "Just got this from Drudge".
