Did your dad have credit cards, a hefty 401k and a house to mortgage?
Not really (a chevron card), no and no.
Many out of work people (not just tech geeks) don't have the privilege of soft money.
Well the guy in the article was earning 200K a year. If he doesn't have savings enough to start a business out of his home he's really not that bright after all.
Seriously, start your own business (when the economy is down it's the best thing to do). Write a kickass application. Take your skill and make something. Till you open your own business you're just a cog in a wheel. Easily replaced and of no real value to anybody.
Perhaps thats what you want, but most men go on vacation with a female companion. And when we do trust me when I say we want to spend some quality time in the hotel room together. I know it's a strange concept to you (no girls don't have kooties), but I suggest you ask your parents to tell you where babies come from. You still live in their basement right?
It's doubtful that the new chips will be used in laptops or iMacs for sometime. Considering that the iMac stayed on G3 till just over a year ago. When they do come out I will be looking at a new PowerMac tower though.:-)
Good point. Trying to cram their own OS on ever item avalible is more of a MS thing. MS is an OS company primarily well apple is more of a hardware company.
Yeah, and a lot of people think that Leonardo Da vinci was gay, it doesn't make it true though. Even if Einstein was "mildly autistic" we didn't have to hire people to speek klingon to him now did we?
A windows version is in the works, and to be honest nobody really cares about linux. They figure the geeks will just get it working under wine.
.99 a song is a bit steep considering I could get a used CD cheaper. Why no OGG/MP3/<insert format here>? Two reasons: There is a new format every damn month and DRM (the real reason).
So far the only real complaint I'd have against the apple store is the light selection in comparison to amazon.com. I'm beginning to think this is the real reason they made safari and the browser was an after thought.
Also some one-hit-wonders have protected their one hit by not letting it be purchased alone (Dirty Vegas - Days Go By). Sorta goes against the whole principle of downloadable music empowering the consumer.
Overclocking voids the warranty too and non retail box chips (OEM) have no warranty either. Taking that into consideration how many of us are actually covered? Be honest.
When the RIO came out I bought my sister one as a christmass gift. She thought it was the cooliest thing ever, but it was too complicated for her to use. I could figure it out but, I'm a geek.
I'm a smart guy at the very least I like to think of my self as techno savvy. A friend of mine has a nomad and I can't figure out how to used the damn thing.
So far nobody has been bafaled by my iPod. It's just that simple.
Not a smart wager friend. Toshiba's largest embedded drive is still the 20 Gig drive used in current iPods. Suck I could use a 40 Gig iPod 20 for mp3s and 20 for DV and other removable storage.
True, AppleWorks bites. It's okay if your a coder and all you use your word processor for is reading spec sheets saved in.doc format. I fear the day I'll nead to make something with it. No multi-undo WTF?
MS Office $500, AppleWorks $50. I guess you get what you pay for.
Sling shot was better.

They use these things all the time a kings games. Though personally I prefer the old method where they'd have to scantly clad girls hold one of those slingshot gizmos while the mascot loaded a t-shirt and shot it into the crowd. It didn't have the range but damn-it looks are important.;-)
EMD you're so smart. You can take what the other guy said, wait seven hours and regurgatate it. I whish I could be cool like you, but alas my moma doesn't dress me like a girl.
People above have mentioned using a NAT/firewall. You also mentioned that your dad has a airport base station. AFAIK a Base Station is capable of being a NAT/firewall. So I'd just use that. You won't even need new hardware.
Not this one. This one requires a hardware upgrade to get the most out of it. It includes 64 bit extentions after all. Sure, the paid upgrades have come only about once a year.
Something tell me they aren't going to phase out the 17" Tibook less than a year after they bring it out.
In some cases it's actually cheaper to buy a new printer than a refill cartrage.

That and the PNG support are my peeves.
Sorta funny you mentioned that. Mac IE had PNG support. You had to turn it on in the preferences but it was there.
It doesn't take a lot of money to start a business. My dad did it while supporting a family of five (himself, mom and three kids).

Better to waste it on that than lame one line pot-shot slashdot posts ( Yes, I realize the irony of this post ).

...Angelina Jolie in a Tomb Raider game? On second thought, that probably wouldn't work out.
Yeah it would. It's not like she'd have to get married to the game or anything.

Thanks I stand corrected

Pobably because Final Cut Pro kicks their asses from here to skywalker ranch.
It was cool up untill the showdown with the bulldoser. I kept getting runover. :(
How could I forget that one.Time Crisis is a great game.
SHAME ON ME!
