It's not just a time slot issue, but more of a top animated comedy slot. The Simpsons has been top dog for years, and now they have someone with whom to compete against not for veiwership, but in terms of pure craftmanship.
This season seems to be a little better than previous ones. I think the Simpsons have stepped up a little now that they have the beast that is Family Guy to compete against.
On a different note, Let's remember that $1 Mil an episode includes the outrageous amounts of money paid to the cast... at least, I hope it does.
punishment =! Abuse. And punishment should not be the goal of a prison system, rather rehabilitation. That should include education, therapy and frankly, a little bit of caring.
Prisons should not look like an attractive alturnative to being a law-abiding citizen, but they should be about correcting a problem, not abusing someone over it.
I hadn't thoough of it from a guidence/stability standpoint, but I would think that stripping a lot of the internal components and replacing them with parts that were designed to remain in flight may be cheaper than creating a new segment of the same size. Then again, you would still have lots of needless weight attached to the station, such as the wings and engines that are clearly no longer being used.
So... I guess it's not such a great idea. Good thing I don't work for NASA.
I've thought of that, too. When the fleet is retired, why NOT just send at least one shuttle up there, as just another permanent part of the ISS? Just modify it for long-term space use and you have a very large addition to the station at a fraction of what it would cost to build a portion of the same size from scratch. Plus, it could double as a lifeboat should something go wrong with the attached Soyuz lifeboat.
Depends on which system you are in. Sol. yes, the 1.2 version is illegal. However, version 1.2 corresponds to version 2.4 in the Tattooine system. What with it's duel suns and all.
Yeah, but once you got it, you'd have to re-arrange the furnature in your house to make it look like Jabba's palace. Then put on a few hundred pounds and hire Carrie Fisher to sit around in that damn bikini.
As cool a piece as it is, you are going to kill your self accessorizing for it.
Will it come with a guy that will make sound effects out the side of his mouth when you wave it around? Cause that's the part that I always get tired of making when I play with lightsabers.
At the center of any story is conflict. That's what leads to drama. Video Games at this point primarily focus on the conflict between two characters in a violent sense... you can take Gordon Freeman Vs. the Combine, or even Mario Vs. King Koopa. The root is always the same- if you don't kill them, they will kill you.
This is the first time I've seen that conflict be able to move away from the violent, and that's a big step for video games. This has the chance to change the nature of gaming away from the shoot-em-up mentality into something larger.
You know how ever blockbuster action movie has a game to go along with it? We could potentially have games that are tied to something like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or American Beauty.
This is going to appeal to you in five years. Remember, this is a first step into a larger world where we can get away from the limitations of clicking on a phrase to respond with a la KOTOR.
I've not seen this demo (though I will check it out when I get home) but this seems like it could lead to really cool stuff. The implications for Alternate Reality Games is pretty cool. Now it's just typing text and reading the response, but start to incorporate a voice recigition and you've got something. You could call a phone number and have a conversation with a computer. I'm pretty damn exicted about the prospect of this technology.
I think you are on the tip of an issue that is just starting to develop. Although one is not harming a living thing, or even a thing at all, are we still doing something wrong? Is it a negative on our psyche?
Here's a disturbing question that will take your issue a little further: If one were to use CGI to create photo-realistic child pornography, that was not based on the likeness of actual children, would that be wrong? No child is being exploited, and the veiwer is supposedly getting to see what they desire, no strings attached.
this is NOT an endorsement of such an idea. I'm posing the question as it's relavent to the topic. No flaming intended.
Check out the new Doctor Who. While it might not be "back to home" it's at least sci-fi beyond guns. It's story telling that makes use of it's fantastic setting in a good way. The story line throughout the series was very tight, and entertaining to watch without nessisarily having a deeper message at the end of the day.
I think you can throw the show Lost into the sci-fi category, considering all the weird things that happen on the island. Although now I might be bending the the/. definition of sci-fi. At any rate, I'd say that there is still good sci-fi out there, just not the next Star Trek.
It's got lawful purposes, but the new addition of BT search could be argued as promotion of piracy. It's not like they avoided adding pirate sites to the search engine... this is why I used the term "silently promote", because all the prosecution is giong to have to do now is prove that there is promotion for the software in question to be declared illegal.
This case gives the RIAA a very nice leg to stand on.
That's the first step towards the out-and-out outlawing of all peer-to-peer programs that are not created by the copyright holder.... It's not hard to argue that BT or eMule or any of the others silently promote piracy.
Of course, this is not the end to piracy... just a new step...
there are days when I don't have a lot going on and I reload/. frequently for fun, but TMM is there consistantly! It's amazing! And if he's not one of the first, he's got a +5 somehwere in the thread I'm reading...
Reminds me of the time I was at the last Phish concert of the 1997 tour... just before the last set, the band annouced "This guy standing here in front has been at the front of every set all tour long... we don't know how he does it."

In the upper atmosphere, but isn't it harmful when it's close to the ground?

About this time someone says "get on the shuttle, get on the shuttle"
I say "FUCK YOU I'm getting IN the Shuttle! Let Lance Bass ride ON the shuttle."
I'm still confident they'll launch before DNF or Longhorn are released.
Yeah, but what about before the Shuttle's replacement craft is ready for service?
Now that more and more motherboards will boot from a USB device, how long before we do away with CDs for storage?
That was hilarious. Very well done, my good man. I had to email that around this morning.

Yeah- it's widely known that Carrie Fisher 1.2 was had better "support" than current version 4.5
I'm giving you the raspberry.
