    As someone who has always labored to pursue quality and technical correctness as an end in itself, I find the inherent laziness in their products offensive.

    I suggest that for your continued good health and manageable blood pressure, you really shouldn't take a look at 95% of OSS projects.

    Do you think I'm trying to get a bite by pointing out this flaw in many OSS projects? It's there and it really is a problem.

    Maybe my analogy was un-kind to colour-blind people. Okay, how about this:

    I use OO.o every day, and one positive thing I can see having come from it is that people no longer complain about MS Office being unnecessarily bloated and slow.

    Interesting. I have never seen a phone display that acts like this. I've seen plenty that turn off the /backlight/ after 15 seconds on inactivity, but never the entire display.

    I think you've really hit the nail on the head there. Too many open-source projects suffer from this silly political correctness. Because one obscure target platform doesn't support feature, no one can have it.

    It's a bit like designing a work of art whilst using only inks that are distinguishable by colour-blind people.

    What "people" are you talking about? The US really doesn't work that way any more, if in fact it ever did. I think you people need to stop looking back at some old document signed by some old guys a couple of hundred years ago. It's no longer relevant.     At the moment, if you're not doing gaming, the best video card on Linux is actually an Intel one.

    Definitely. Unfortunately they only seem interested in integrated motherboard chipsets. I've yet to find a video card with an Intel chip on it. If I found one, I'd buy several.
