Or take a small length of fibre optic cable. If you get lost, bury it in the dirt, stand back for a couple of minutes. You can then ask the backhoe driver for directions.
As someone who has always labored to pursue quality and technical correctness as an end in itself, I find the inherent laziness in their products offensive.
I suggest that for your continued good health and manageable blood pressure, you really shouldn't take a look at 95% of OSS projects.
I use OO.o every day, and one positive thing I can see having come from it is that people no longer complain about MS Office being unnecessarily bloated and slow.
I could go on, but I'm not going to. Must get back to waiting for my document to save...
Interesting. I have never seen a phone display that acts like this. I've seen plenty that turn off the/backlight/ after 15 seconds on inactivity, but never the entire display.
I think you've really hit the nail on the head there. Too many open-source projects suffer from this silly political correctness. Because one obscure target platform doesn't support feature, no one can have it.
It's a bit like designing a work of art whilst using only inks that are distinguishable by colour-blind people.
What "people" are you talking about? The US really doesn't work that way any more, if in fact it ever did. I think you people need to stop looking back at some old document signed by some old guys a couple of hundred years ago. It's no longer relevant. If it were, you "people" would have overthrown your current administration years ago.
At the moment, if you're not doing gaming, the best video card on Linux is actually an Intel one.
Definitely. Unfortunately they only seem interested in integrated motherboard chipsets. I've yet to find a video card with an Intel chip on it. If I found one, I'd buy several.
Only on /. could shit like this be regarded Insightful...

Some have already tried that and failed.
It's losing both. Keeping G constant, it is losing both mass (M) and weight (=MxG).
Oh oh, I've got a better one!
How about:
It's a bit like prohibiting car exports to Africa due to there being some communities there that wouldn't know what to do with them.
or even:
Banning ABS brakes since some old cars can't be retro-fitted to take them.
Okay I'm done now. Mod me down further please.
Ain't that the truth.
"No PC should be without it". Heh.
To the person who moderated this Flamebait, I ask why???
Do you think I'm trying to get a bite by pointing out this flaw in many OSS projects? It's there and it really is a problem.
Maybe my analogy was un-kind to colour-blind people. Okay, how about this:
It's a bit like disallowing power tools at a building project, because children can't use them. *shrugs*
I like those Certified For Windows® Vista® stickers. I peel them off and stick them to the sides of rubbish bins about the place.

Yes. He must be found and stopped.
Wait, wait what do you mean you can't take the battery out? This is a cellphone we're talking about, right?

It seems Illiad agrees.

The web interface is down for maintenance.
I don't get it. Linus isn't usually known for this level of subtlety.
Uhhh, does it load at boot time when I run it under WINE on my linux box too?
Because it still loads a hell of a lot faster than OOo.
Why should ya'll be valid? What is omitted between the a and ll to warrant an apostrophe?
kvite kun tio. Mi estas movanta Esperanto.
I think you've just summed up what is wrong with our culture, and why nonsense like this goes on unchecked.
I'm willing to bet your boss was doing what he thought he needed to do to get a paycheck too.
I don't want Microsoft to have even the slightest chance of being able to declare war.
Not that your congress has used that power since the '40s.
I think I'd rather have EVD.
That is the question, more or less.
*applause*
