I'm not a fan of iTunes and have never bought anything off them, but Universals reasons for ditching them can only be nefarious. Okay so Prince isn't going to care, and Elton probably won't either. But if anyone knows the other artists it might pay to tell them what their label has done and that now might be a good time to think about their future with Universal.
You're right of course, but go have a look at the US/Mexican border on Google Earth some time. There's a hell of a lot more cars backed up on one side than the other. Maybe one side just has really slow border control...

Sadly this is very true. I am an (almost) exclusive OOo user, and the slow-as-an-arthritic-dog look and feel just doesn't go away. Even under WINE, MS Office loads a hell of a lot quicker than native OOo. That immediately dismisses any claims that Windows pre-loads half of MS Office to make it seem faster.
Any claims that MS Office is unnecessarily bloated and slow compared to its OSS counterparts can now be laid to rest.
When is the Linux kernel going to make use of Turbo Memory? It would be funny if, after MS touting this tech for so long, we can say "but you need Linux before it will work properly".
Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Try to load another large applcation and Firefox is pushed out to swap. Alt-Tab back to Firefox and you're in Heavy Swap Land (population: you).
There's most definitely memory leaks there. Even the memory leak detecting extension popped up for me so often that I had to uninstall it.
That is most definitely NOT the case. Even on Linux, having a few tabs open for a few days causes memory usage >500MB. And that's not misreporting since the whole system starts swapping and being terribly unresponsive by about this point. Restart firefox and the problem goes away again for a few days.
So now no more iTunes sales for:

I think you might be confusing Cuba with the Middle East.

Really? What's GW's total now? Is anyone keeping count of this murderous beast's non-combatant body count?
How about the fact that no matter who might be watching you, Mr Elf, you are still able to write what you just did.
Thank you, I found that very informative.
But it's heat sink. It acts as a sink for heat from the GPU. It should under no circumstances sync the heat.
... the mines of the next century will be our garbage mountains.
You're probably right, unfortunately in both senses of the word.
You really need to get out more :)
You're right about that. Of late my jukebox has been none other than Youtube.
Want to listen to We will rock you? CTRL-T "y we will rock you" done.
But what will the lunar-tics make of it?
A hat, I suspect.
Yeah, and to any more Americans out there:
'fanny' does not mean what you think it means.

So which is it, guys?
Indeed. As for me, well Youtube is pretty much my jukebox now.
You're kidding. I assume when you say "for women", you mean "for perverted masturbators who've never made love properly", right?
They should just give up and call their next console, which by then might be able to be considered generation 7, the Nintendo Piss.
Just in case you didn't already know, a number of players sold here (NZ) can already play MPEG4, DivX and XviD.
I'm interested in this whole body in space degrading over time issue. Can you please point me to some literature on the topic?
thanks
Yes because we all know that filthy perverts decide what technology advances are successful.
Grow up.
I'd like to propose a third rule of optimization:
(For OpenOffice.org developers only) Do it now. Please, for the love of God, do it now!!!
Curse you, I just typed :q to close this thread in firefox!
True story.

The bigger question here is:
When is the Linux kernel going to make use of Turbo Memory? It would be funny if, after MS touting this tech for so long, we can say "but you need Linux before it will work properly".
At least it would be, if it were true.

so.. does that mean you swing both ways?
