(Sorry, I don't have anything constructive to say here. I know HTML inside and out, JavaScript, CSS, Perl, and MySQL. Couldn't be hired as a web designer to save my life. So I'm a Unix Admin instead.)
This leads me to wonder....I'm a Perl coder, and I actually started out on the Win32 build, then moved to Unix. Really backwards, I know, but it actually made my transition to unix much easier.
Anyway, I never check to see whether or not perl's $ENV{$HOME} or $ENV{$USER} variables were properly populated (my syntax may be slightly wrong, forgive me). If so, then $ENV{$HOME} = "c:/Documents\ and\ Settings/$ENV{$USER}";, and of course $ENV{USER} = userid.
I don't know if a similar convention exists in more common win32 languages or not. It should, and if it doesn't, this needs to change. The establishment of a home directory/profile directory is a staple of multi-user environments. With roaming profiles on win2k+ domain environments, there's no excuse for this.
The environment variables for home and userid MUST exist and be accessible to the coder. End of discussion.
The honorable thing here would be to back this guy up and applaud his efforts. UO obviously is cool with it, but E-bay doesn't want people making a habit of it, so they pull the plug.
I'm sure no one over there is reading this, but listen up...the spirit of your rules were to protect copyright owners against misuse. The letter of your rule states that you can't sell virtual goods.
I don't think the spirit of your rule is being harmed by a charitable giving of those online. Don't shy away simply because the letter of the law forbids it.
It sucks SO BADLY that everyone is afraid of being sued. That's precisely why this is being shut down.:(
I could go on a huge rant on how I would like to trust people around me and not constantly feel like I must protect myself from litigation. *sigh*
Uh...no joking? Seriously, take a look at what I've done. What do you think I did wrong?

INSTALLATION
Simply running "make" will compile the genkeys and asleap tools. If you want to actively deauthenticate users on wireless networks, you will need the AirJack drivers from http://802.11ninja.net/. Reading from a live interface or from a capture file requires the interface/capture to be in RFMON mode (DLT_IEEE802_11). You can also supply an AiroPeek NX capture file if you have that tool available (just pass the filename to asleap with the "-r" flag).

From the looks of it, endian.h isn't being built (I think?). I don't think that warrants a "are you joking????" response.:P
We didn't have much/anything to lose, so we really don't care.
Cute.
Meanwhile Visual Conepts/Take Two gets royally screwed. They had the superior product, but because they didn't bid the highest (if they got to bid at all) on the licensing rights, we'll either be stuck with a generic ESPN Football 2K6, or nothing at all.:(
I don't have the link handy, but if you're bothing to read this story, please sign the petition to the NFL to rethink this (if that's even possible).
Lame move. Basically, they don't want to continue to update their SDK for the Mac platform. Either it's costing them more, so they've increased licensing fees, OR, they don't want to bother with it any more.
Anyone know the before and after cost of the SDK license?
Notice that the Japanese version said "Powered by WinCE", and the US Versions said "Compatible with WinCE".
Neither one runs any version of windows. What DID happen was that Microsoft release a WinCE dev kit for the dreamcast. This was supposed to make software development easier.
It probably did, but also of note was that the the WinCE games sucked, and provided the most hackability to the dreamcast.

Oh no! Students hate them, it requires work on the part of teacher to grade them...hmmm
I repeatedly requested the kernel sources so I could rebuild for an old cobalt box I had laying around, and they repeatedly refused, saying that they wouldn't support running microtik on anything but their hardware, despite the fact that the kernel sources are protected under GPL.
I reported them, but apparently the only one who can enforce the GPL on the linux kernel is Linus himself, and he isn't interested in enforcing it.:(
I was going to say I was a teenager not so long ago myself, but I'm pushing 10 years hence now.
Anyway, this will come off a bit odd, but buy a case of Bawls, and lan party with them.
Seriously.
If they're taking an interest in online activities, my gut tells me the best thing you can do is get involved. Be active and supportive.
True, getting outside and being active is important as well (perhaps join a gym, get into a workout regimine and encourage them to join you?), but if they're going to use the computer, make sure you have a part in it.
As a side note, since teenagers seem to take some amount of joy in parental rebellion, they may actually wind up spending LESS time online, simply because you're taking an interest in their activities.:P

Heh. Big Bend and 141.

I work downtown running an ISP. 100mBit backbone straight to the net. Aw yeah.
Except that my client blocks messages from those not in my buddy list I have to have yours as well for you to get through. :P
Knee-jerk reaction.

eBay doesn't suck in this case I guess. He can still do the auctions, but has to carefully word how he puts it up.
I'd just put up
CrazyJoe UO Ultimae Online Tsunami Gold
That should say plenty there (I think?).
He can't mention the Red Cross.
Seems straightforward enough:
:(
Ebay doesn't want to set a precedent.
You let him do it, why can't I?

So who are you and where do you live? ...
:OP
Serious. I'm in Ballwin.
Of course. That's what has me puzzled. I guess I could try re-loading them, but I've been using Fink for some time now, which requires the dev tools.
In the upper right hand corner of the desktop?
I've been looking for something similar to Mac OS X's GeekTool for X11, but hadn't found anything yet. That looks like what I'm looking for.
Anyone know?
I think we all need to agree that 'better' is a sujective term.
:(
The point is, EA is spending cash to snuff out it's competitors rather than simply outperforming them.
I don't know that anti-trust law covers it, but I would call it unethical, but then ethics winds up being subjective too.

Simple enough. Just take an airship to the Chicago show in February!
Did you program MythTV to record "Will and Grace" by chance?

blah blah blah....and had to get your warez off of usenet walking uphill in the snow both upstream and downstream blah blah blah...
Actually, had to get your warez off of the local bbs at 2400 baud....
no.
I had to manually copy floppies in binary to punchcard by reading the terminal output...
I wonder, have these kids even SEEN 'WarGames'?
Would you like to play a game?
I won't take any lip from you. Don't come out until I say so. ....
and GET OFF OF THAT COMPUTER! I have MRTG down here, and I know how to use it. I cut off your default gateway just like that!

Just some thoughts.
I think you're right. We had an SIR-TS160.
I wish I could get the two side-by-side though. I would be surprised if the two weren't similar enough to where the firewire port couldn't be added.
I forgot! Our T165 burned out, and DirecTV charged us $150 to get a replacement, and sent us a TS-360. That's why there's no firewire.
I guess try to sell this one on ebay and get a T-165 again, huh?
Hey! I have that model, and here's no firewire out.
You have a link to someone that sells the upgrade kit, or a link to one that has them?
You're on DirecTV right?
