Seriously though, get the motive / switching right and this should be the next generation car. Perhaps not in an enclosed tube though in case of failure but then again, what's a plane?

  7. My idea of the Ultimate Car Audio System on Five FM iPod Transmitters Reviewed · · Score: 1

    IMHO:

Don't bother with FM transmitters, the Car aerial is on the outside of the car with the (weak) FM transmitter on the insife of the (metal) car.
My idea of the ultimate car "stereo" would have a CF slot that would be populated with a Bluetooth module by default. You could re-populate the CF slot with your own CF card.
Sadly, it doesn't help us now for those of us that have FM only car stereos.

PS: CF is the best as it is not sticky-outy (ie can be flush) and you can fit adaptors for all the other memory sizes.
Anyway, this is my $0.02 worth, hopefully someone will either say: "You want model "123" of brand "XYZ", or will go out and design this into their next car stereo.

I suspect this would foil the proposed system as the system would have no choice but to disable itself once the system didn't know where it was.

  14. OGG, MP3 and RealPlayer documentaries on Wanted: a Real Science Channel · · Score: 1
While not quite what the poster requested, this may be of interest to those that read this thread.

If you have an ogg or mp3 player then these are two great sites:

The Canadian site releases stuff weekly and has a great archive of material and interview some really interesting people. The Nasa site also has a largish archive but is a recital of the website material and only provide mp3s.

If you have RealPlayer then http://www.dw-world.de/english/ is worthy of a weekly visit. Their Tomorrow Today has some great material from time to time but no archive as far as I can tell.

If anyone else can recommend any other sites that provide archived multimedia documentary material, I'd be interested.

    Cheers... Clark
