I have always been curious about the more politcal side of GNU/Linux and your answers would be much appreciated.
The structure of Linux development and the GNU project are two totally different things. I'd recommend that you read The Cathedral and the Bazaar to get an idea.
Essentially the GNU project is nothing to do with Linux.
I realised 2 years ago just how unfit I was becoming, which was a shock as I used to compete in athletics at a national level.
I started studying Tang Soo Do, a Korean Martial art. I really enjoy it. Not only does it keep me fit, flexible and relaxed but can come in very useful when you need it most.
Slashdot, you're like a second home to me, but please don't post stories like this any more. It's embarrasing. Try to look at the article, read it and evaluate it for validity before posting it.
Aww, that almost brings a tear to my eye. I'm going to hate to see how the dupe affects you..
Have you taken a look at paneris.org? From their website " PanEris is home to a collective of web developers working together as a virtual corporation. We partner with organisations who wish to outsource the development of their Internet sites, and the information systems behind them.".
They are very opensource freindly, the only downside is that most of their work is in Java!
Java can be said to be a subset of C# making it easy to translate Java programs to C#, which would have been a design goal so I don't know how it can be reffered to as an immature version of Java.
In my oppinion its quite a nice language. Praise be to Mono!
Reading one of the Red Dwarf books (I think it is "Better than Life") this situation arises. 'Genetically Altered Species' are banned from competition with humans.
Within a few years no one wants to watch human sports so it dies out, everyone watches the GAS sports. Heh, IIRC the book goes on to say that Scotland breed a Football Goalkeeper who is bigger than the goal. He was later banned;)
I imagine that if would be very hard but possible to install it graphically without a mouse using tab to move around the widgets. However I'd want to tell it it to go back into text mode if I didn't have a mouse, who wouldn't?
Someone did reverse engineer the AOL protocol some time ago and made an example connection program in Visual Basic. I would have hoped someone would have hacked together some connection software for Linux by now..
Return the thing unreviewed then, siting 'technical difficulties'.
That takes to much effort. Use a medium sized hammer to chip away at the CD player to reveal the CD. When they ask for the CD player back just reply "Oh. I thought it was a new type of case and threw it away".
To my knowledge (IANA Biologist) Sharks do not get cancer so they do not need to fight it hence they live forever, or at least a large percentage longer than all other mammals? Hmm.. I think not.
1. Network Associates/McAfee.com Corporation has not contacted the FBI, nor has the FBI contacted
NAI/McAfee.com Corp., regarding Magic Lantern.
2. We do not expect the FBI to contact Network Associates/McAfee.com Corporation regarding Magic Lantern.
So McAfee do not expect/want any communication with the FBI on this matter at all. So maybe they will detect it unless a law is passed forcing them to. Has anyone actually thought about that?
HVR posted about this on the linux-crypto list a few days ago.
"Alexander Kjeldaas was the billing contact [for kerneli.org] and seems to have vanished...

He go's on to say:

Does anyone have any information on Alex's whereabouts?
I use the CVS version of cryptoapi which works fine for the latest kernels. ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/hvr has recent kernel patches.
The AOL protocal was a nice reverse engineering hack. Nice work fellows. AOL didn't make it more freely available because it was a proprietary technology. They'd prefer to keep it to themselves or license it out.. otherwise they would have used a published standard.
In the UK we still have to pay for local phone calls and AOL were one of the first to offer a unmetered service which I am sure was reliable (unlike most of the others at that time). If the protocol was reversed engineered back then and I could connect with linux then they would of had my subscription money. I am still seriously considering it now.
If they are classsing PGP as a weapon of war and using that as an excuse for banning it then air craft, tall buildings and such like should be banned as well.
Linus was all for it however I seem to remember some other people (Alan Cox beng one of them) saying its the only recognition they get and so no one implemented it.
There is a patch called the Linux Progress Patch which gives you a graphical startup with a bar and some explanation of what is going on. Its quite pretty and if there is an error the normal messages can be seen on the second console.
So by that logic you could say that Europe is a country, or possibly soon to be one.
Yes I know I am bending the logic a bit. But give me 20 years. It is coming.
Bending the logic a _bit_? Please, get real. Stick to the facts. Europe is a continent.
You may not be aware of the EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY.
:)
Pretty safe to assume that they are Europeans from Europe.
Quite. However because a number of nations have formed a space agency it doesn't mean they are a single country.

So where and when are these fonts going to be availible?
For those that are interested here are screenshots of PGI v0.9.6
Urgh! They look horrible. I'm only going to use it when it supports anti-aliased fonts!
... will I need a mouse to install my system ?

Why are they setting dates in the first place? Can't they just say that they will release it when feature A, B and C are implemented and stable?
I have the same view as him and I did it to see what changes have been made. Looking at it made me realise it was a bit pointless.
Try and think before you post next time.
