Sorry, this is Slashdot. Free markets are bad. Antitrust laws are good. The federal government should give everyone broadband and make the Big Evil Corporations pay for it.
You are a mighty karma whore my friend. I remember the days when I was a karma whore, but then they caught me and I got all my posts modded down, and lost 20 karma in 2 hours.
This buttrammer stole my idea! I'm going to file an antitrust suit! Anonymous Coward has monopoly power because he is allowed unlimited posts! Judge Thomas Penisfield Jackson will beat you like Joe Jackson beat Michael Jackson before he grew up to be a homosexual pedophile!

The program I wrote to solve the halting problem says that that program will never halt.
Terrorists have attacked again. The White House, the Capitol Building, and the United Nations building are in ruins. Reports of further attacks in Chicago and Los Angeles are unconfirmed. President Bush and Vice President Cheney are believed dead in the White House destruction and Dennis Hastert has claimed the presidency. Nuclear strikes have been launched by the United States military against the Phillipines and Iraq. Martial law has been declared and mass media have agreed under force to continue normal programming. News web sites including Slashdot have agreed to use their moderation system to silence anyone discussing the attacks. Yahoo.com refused to abide by the decision and was shut down by the military. (Try to visit them if you need proof.) Know the truth! Do not be silenced in the crisis!
Good God, people! The United States has been hit with the worst terrorist attack in our history! Over three thousand people died in the World Trade Center alone! The fight to bring these killers to justice is going to take years.... and you're talking about PINBALL MACHINES?! Get some perspective!
I don't believe this - all this coming from a state in Australia who has decriminalised the use and cultivation of marijuana. Why don't they clean up their backyard first before starting on the rest of Australia? How can they say it's alright to decriminalise marijuana - and condone a drug which is easily at everyones reach and is certain to destroy peoples lives mentally and phyically - then turn around and put censors on the Internet's contents that cause no physical harm to anyone, never has and never will.
As a child I grew up with porn, violent movies and violence all around me and it did not affect me in anyway. What is the difference between watching a couple of guys getting their heads beaten in at a boxing match on tv or a boxing arena, which is a real thing happening that is being advertised and shown to just playing a violent game of some sort of which everyone knows is fake. Violence has always been around and just because I play violent games every blue moon, does not mean I am evetually going to go out and test my new games skills on real people. Violence was worse before TV came out, remember all the world wars that took place? Well I'm sure they weren't caused because of people watching violent movies or playing violent games on the computer.
As for porn, well that's also been around for God knows how long since the begining of mankind, and is a natural thing. I have seen children down at nudist beaches where perverts are and they have been taken down there by their parents or have ventured down there by themselves, I owuld be concentrating on stomping out that sort of thing which puts children at risk by being around perverts and God knows what else. Pictures don't hurt anyone, they satify the curiosity for a while, then the novelty wears off after a while. Big deal.
Encryption products are the locks and keys of the Information Age, enabling individuals and businesses to protect sensitive information as it is transmitted over the Internet. The ability to protect and secure information is vital to the growth of electronic commerce and to the growth of the Internet itself.
The Internet is an open, decentralized network that was not specifically designed with security in mind. Because communications flow through multiple networks, your communications are vulnerable to the prying eyes of hackers, foreign governments, and -- yes -- even rogue law enforcement agents.
Encryption technologies, which scramble communications so that they can only be read by their intended recipients are vitally important to protect privacy, secure commercial transactions, and prevent crime.
So why isn't encryption widely used? Well....
Current US policy prohibits US companies from selling strong encryption products on the world market. US companies, find it prohibitively expensive to develop two different versions of the same product, and as a result very few strong, easy to use privacy and security products are available inside the United States.
After more than 4 years of debate, the privacy and security of Internet users remain hostage to cold-war era export control regulations and risky, and efforts to compel domestic "key-recovery" systems designed to FBI specifications. Even more, despite the loud objections of privacy advocates and the computer and communications industry, the Administration remains committed to its failed "Clipper" policies.
While the legitimate needs of law enforcement and concerns over National Security are important factors which must be considered, the Administration's continued efforts to push for the world-wide adoption of "key-recovery" or "key-escrow" systems, which would provide guaranteed law enforcement access to private communications, represent a grave threat to privacy and security on the Internet.
Congress has finally gotten the message and has begun to consider legislation to prevent the government from imposing "key-recovery" or "key-escrow" systems inside the US, affirm the rights of Americans to use whatever form of encryption they choose to protect their privacy, and relax the outdated export controls. Bills are moving through the House and Senate with strong bi-partisan support.
Willie Wilson struck out against Tug McGraw to end the 1980 World Series in a tragic loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. I didn't forgive him until his sister gave me a blumpkin.

That was one of the greatest posts so far in 2002.

I think by "get in good" he meant "fill every hole with hot throbbing cock", but that's just my interpretation.
Quotation marks around a phrase that isn't a direct quote imply sarcasm. You are an idiot.
