I agree. Additionally, I can't believe Alan Cox said he would quit if AOL buys RedHat. It will increase his job security and he'll probably get paid better. It would be a win-win situation for himself and for RedHat users.

Compiling and installing Xfree is difficult.
What's so hard about reading the INSTALL file and doing "make World; make install; make install.man"?
Additionally, either my eyes are deceiving me or the beer I am consuming is clouding my thought processes.
Look at his first chart and the "N = 2" case. Why is this only being incremented by 2 each time (2, 4, 6, 8...)? Shouldn't it be multiplied by 2 each time (2, 4, 8, 16...) just as "N = 3" is multiplied by 3, "N = 4" is multiplied by 4, etc?
Look into some lightweight window managers, such as Afterstep. It's fully customizable and it doesn't take oogles of drive space. Unfortunately their web page has been down for the past week or so, but I'm sure you can find mirrors on google.
Yes, all NP-problems would become solveable because they are all related. Many Computer Science programs have an Automata class, and they teach how to convert from one NP-complete problem to another.
By the time you spend large amounts of money on your new computer to act as a home theater, you could have had a lot better A/V equipment with less money.
I'd rather have a Sony 36" Wega with a decent surround-sound system for $2500 than a beefy computer with a 21" monitor.
I think just about every school with a Computer Science program has a machine named "turing". It's kind of like naming schools after famous people, but in a geeky way:-)
A more expensive alternative is to put PVC piping in the walls and run the cables through it. It wouldn't be as ugly as having the cables on the outside, and you can easily upgrade. I am considering to do this when I build my house in the next 1-2 years.
Of course the major drawback is the expense of the PVC piping.
When I saw Final Fantasy, I thought the graphics were great. However, that feeling went away after 10 minutes, and the characters seemed to be robotic and void of depth. I'm sure this will get better in the future, but we shouldn't say that it will be inevitable that they will be as numerous as real actors.
Actually an interesting aspect of this ruling is what if somebody posts confidential intellectual property or illegal material to a message board...DeCSS for example?
Actually, MS fired the first shot by forcing IE upon Windows users.

Ameritech DSL used to have uncapped access to Usenet, but when SBC took over the reigns they limited Usenet access (up and down) to 128k.

The wording is rather childish in this email and I doubt it's legitimate. Personally, I can't even believe this was posted to slashdot.
Actually, John Romero's funding of Stevie Case's ("Killcreek") breast implants (see her Playboy spread) is probably what broke Ion Storm.
:-)
I bet he wishes they were refundable
You can find the original, non-watered down story at Nature. Of course, you need a subscription :-)
It's actually much smaller than what you say if you substitute a less bloated window manager for KDE, such as Afterstep.
:)
Sure, I install GTK/QT (by themselves) for X apps that require it, but it still beats having a full Gnome/KDE install
I have perfect functionality at less than 200 megs with LFS. Look into it.

In the Washington DC picture, you can see the Pentagon and it's definitely missing some "rings" on its west wall :-(
What's the big deal with this? You can sometimes find stuff with strings or a hex program.
Here is a review of the game on isonews.com.
Here's another site that has a list much like cyberworld.ru:

Here's a link to the European Southern Observatory story that's not watered down (gotta love Reuters and AP like that!).
