Why not just setup a mini cell tower to prisons that will pickup all calls and either record all calls for further evidence or just drop them. Wouldn't matter how many phones they can smuggle in.
Unfortunately JSON libraries have had encapsulation bugs. Safest encoding I know for SQL is one that I have to use with MSSQL, that is to take the input string and convert it into a hexdecimal string which then can be inserted safely to the database.
Escaping SQL seems to be almost impossible task in this era of Unicode and gazillion encoding types, only safe way to go is prepared statements or something similar.
You cannot disable anything via GPS devices unless the device has a preprogrammed list of locations that will disable the car. More likely they disabled the car via mobile network (GPRS/EDGE/3G/LTE).
The statistics are only valid if they have been gathered from apps that have been offered in all three categories. I would assume that on the cheap apps category there is lots of crappy apps that no-one wants to subscribe into.
Best app so far has been RideAlone, though it did sometimes suffer from hitchhikers so now I tend to use AloneAndLate which has a specific feature for any ride sharers that randomly appear and are not already in the car and going to the same location as I.
Hmmm, 20000 lectures times 45 minutes (or more) times $1 per minute is 900.000 bucks. I would say that is not minimal. Also note that these videos haven't been recorded with publication in mind. Also I don't think you can add captions to a 45 minute long video in few minutes. It would take at minimum 45 minutes to ensure they are placed correctly (well, maybe you could watch at 2x speed and still have reasonable accuracy).
I live in Finland and have tested all streaming services available here. Checked the scifi movies section on all of them and results were poor: HBO Nordic 5 movies, Viasat 13 movies and CMore 28. Netflix had similar selection. And most of the movies were old, some so old that they were shown on TV. Selection on TV series was slightly better, but still I had watched all interesting shows during the first free month all these services offered. And I only watched 1-2 hours every now and then.
Not all corporations are bad. The worst are ones that are required by law to maximize profits for their shareholders. Fortunately there is different types of corporations with better goals, like ensure that the employees get paid fairly and keep them with the company for long time, maybe gather some extra funds for sudden expenses. Or, corporations that try to avoid making debt, keep prices low and use profits to buy cool hardware to play with.
Only if you get a refund from that 1 star review. I've had to use software that really deserved a 1 star review, but there was no other options in my price range.
Where are they spending all the money? They really just need a pile of servers and couple dozen coders to develop the system and perhaps couple admins to keep it running.
It depends. If the game is advertised to have features X,Y and Z and you get the impression that they should manifest around 40 hours of playtime and you don't see them, it isn't unreasonable to give test 10 hours more to be sure that the features are missing and then demand refund. Usually you can see the missing features faster and can demand refund after couple hours of playtime. A smart developer would mention that features X,Y and Z are missing from this release even though they were promised/alluded to during several interviews. Even smarter developer would also mention that they are going to add the missing features and give some kind of timetable. Smartest developer wouldn't either promise features that cannot be finished before launch or delay the launch until the game is actually ready for launch.
I didn't get RFID enabled creditcard, instead I got app from the bank that enables the RFID payment with my phone after I enter my pin and click 'pay with RFID'. Another thing I do is to use only Visa Electron and keep minimal amount of funds on my account the card is linked to. Same with payments online, I have another Visa Electron with account that usually has balance of 0-5 euro and move funds there as needed. Also on sites that require to store my CC number, I usually switch that to one of the test CC numbers that are meant for testing online payment processing. They check as valid, accept any kind of payment and are not actually charged anywhere.
No no no, tabs should always insert a tab character, that way every single person reading the source can set the indent to something they prefer. For me that happens to be 2 spaces or 4, depending on language.
How much do sites need to pay for the connection, servers and bandwidth? Nowadays you can get 100Mbps uncapped VPS from OVH for 5eur/month and dedicated quadcore server for 9eur/month. Add couple of those running Varnish or something as reverse proxy for your site (and perhaps put free Cloudflare on top of that too) and then get one of their beefier servers as backend, costs 25eur/month. And if you cannot afford to pay that much for a site per month and/or not get enough donations etc, then perhaps you shouldn't be running a website at all.
You can use this thing called swap, it will be slow (though perhaps not so slow if using ssd on that 486), but make compilation possible.

If you set the connection type to utf-8, which normalization is used? And there have been quote bugs on Mysql, thus there might be one in the future.

The miner checks millions of hashes per second, so any time it can run is beneficials to them.
Tiny amount of solder will in practice disable the embedded antennas in such a device and would prevent any location tracking or remote control.

They should first hit 60fps and 1080p without upscaling and perhaps then talk about supersampling stuff.

Sounds kinda sad that those kids have never experienced Youtube and other free media sources.

It is somewhat more difficult to blacklist users of opensource programs.

There wouldn't be any problem, there could be 2.9.99.100 or 2.9.100.1 or even 2.9.100000.1000000000.

I have a chinese smart watch that runs on CR3032 battery for couple months which is quite ok. Only feature it is missing is a heart rate monitor.

I assume you are paying for Slashdot and not using this service for free?
