Yea, maybe for stupid people who heard that it is the new "lawyer/doctor" profession and mom and dad pushed them through college to get that "coveted" CS degree.. hahaha...

  3. link? on ReplayTV Switches To Subscription Model For New Unit · · Score: 0, Redundant

Is there not a link to see the specs on this? I am little confused about the "subscription" fee part of of this article, I was not aware there was a subscription fee? Anyone have one of these that they can tell a little more about this? I have mess around with the TiVo's and for making sure you don't miss *required* television (startrek, farscape etc et al.) they are wonderful, not sure what this does that TiVo does not?

at least the skateboard anyway, this article disputes that... Otherwise, great review, though I wish there was a link to somewhere else that has screenshots or more info on the documentary itself. (perhaps a link to order it?)

  5. new version of audiogalaxy on Spyware Fights Back · · Score: 1

does not get picked up by "Who's watching me" or the others I have tried. They install some "Helper" software which places an icon of a gorilla or some other simian type thing on your desktop which kindly freezes up a windows box I have here that works as an mp3 fileserver. Apparently as who's watching me updates they are keeping up, but there are some randomization items that come with the app that audiogalaxy satellite installs. Read the TOS before installing...

  6. umm.. http requests still coming in on Viruses: More Hype than Danger? · · Score: 1

I have no idea what a lot of you are talking about, looking over my apache logs I still get tons and tons of requests for cmd.exe? and all the others from the IIS virii that were ubiquitous over the last year. I probably get three or four an hour, I wonder if my IP is somehow early in the cycle of IP's to scan? (not that I'm worried)

wget'ing the whole thing now from another source and piped through babelfish so us english readers can know how to disable german railroads.. http://204.251.2.39/radikal/ should be done a little later.. as for the free speech thing.. well, out on the west coast I read about a protest that said "Hate speech is not free speech" and I thought about how stupid people were with the "IS NOT" portion of that and thought if you limit it in any way, then it is no longer free speech so they are shooting themselves in the foot, the same people who print hate magazines against logging companies complaining about maxim magazine.. *sigh* I am actually sick of this argument.. -joeldg

  11. spam filtering and options for domain owners on Spam Increases Make Things Tough For Companies · · Score: 1

I own a lot of domains and when if you use contact information such as you personal email address for a domain contact you will suddenly see a large increase in spam due to harvesters of whois information.
Also if you have you domain hosted with a company that allows you email forwarding, DO NOT set up a star records (*) forwarding rule as many spammers bank on the fact that people use these and I see tons of mail daily to 12341..Etc..@whatever.com If you set up star forwarding rules you will get a lot more..
One way I have managed to figure out who is selling information (and have complained about it) is to set up email forwarding rules when doing things like site registrations etc.. with the company name I am registering for @mydomain and then it is easy to spot who is selling your info, and it is easy to turn off as well.

  12. spam is a problem on Rep. Bill Jones Thinks Spam is "Innovative" · · Score: 1

I am currently working on a spam tracker called spaminizer, spam is out of control. There is nothing inovative about it.
