his mark can be examined to identify you and track where you've been!
That's true, to a point. However not every person's DNA/fingerprints are on file. I was born in 1981 and I wasn't finger printed when I was born (well actually foot printed then). Then in school, my mom never had me fingerprinted either when they had the fingerprint drive for kids incase they get abducted. I've never been in trouble w/ the law, except for a traffic ticket here and there. That doesn't mean I'm innocent, it just means I've never been in trouble. So when they go and dust something for fingerprints they'll find mine, but when they do a search, I'm not in the system.
"When it's applied to everybody, it is fair, and frankly you wouldn't even know it was going on."
I better know it's going on. I don't necessary have a problem with keeping a record of DNA and fingerprints and suck on file for kids, especially when I've been reading about alot of abductions in the paper lately. However, it should be known that it's happening. And it should be somethign that can be removed from the list. It also brings up the question of Witness Protection. Some teach savy crook can get a copy of your fingerprints and just keep an eye on any criminal complaints that come along.
You have a point. The only ads I really have a problem with are ones that come across your screen and block what you're reading and you have to search for the x button. Or the ads that constantly make noise or video so you wait eternity until it loads just cuz of an ad.
First of all, any comments made to a story that's at all immigration related should be immune to flame bait.
Okay, with that said. Immigrants are still people. You don't just chip them and turn them into an object. They deserve humanity rights as well as any person on Earth.
I'm not saying what they're doing is bad. I'm saying they went a little extreme. With as many times, I believe the article I cited said 17 times, it should have a do not show again. Personally, I do not believe in caching passwords, but for that many times...
I actually commend them for doing this, but it needs to be more practical.
I just read this article last night and remember reading about having to keep entering the admin password.
Why can't they set it up so when you open control panel, you have to enter the root password (like opening yast as a non-root user in suse and the like) and then you're essentially su'd until you close control panel, or I suppose you could time it out, so after 10 minutes even if the CP is open, you will have to re-enter the password if you click on a little icon in there.
From reading the article, I did follow the link to the article, putting in your password that many times will drive someone insane.
Interesting. Are you saying people should do more than they should be paid to do? Personally I subscribe to work smarter, not harder. I find that people that are preceived as working hard do well.
I guess since I work in a factory I see it differently. There are people who will stand @ one machine and one machine only and that's it. Then there are people like me or my immediate co-worker who will go and help someone hang the beds and he'll even jump on a machine if it goes down. That's a hard worker. There's a difference between a worker and a hard worker.
has. I was almost the opposite from being spoiled as a kid. The only thing that I got from it was that I need to find a nice paying job so I can buy the toys I never got when I was a kid.
I think you just made my point. You wanted something, so you worked for it...

I've found that in all of my jobs there are people willing to work and do their job and their are people who will just do what they need to get by.
Personally, I feel this has to do with how they grew up. Rarely do I find someone that was spoiled during their life become a good worker. I think that America needs isn't so much more slacking or working, but the kids do need to be raised to earn what they get so that once they get into a true paycheck job they have the mindset to actually work and do their job and be team member.
Couldn't it be because they just don't hook their phones up to a pc really? Even when downloading material, 90+% of subscribers will d/l from their provider. But in reality, most people won't download anything due to the fact it's just so damn expensive and has these insane license agreements. Plus people aren't really jumping on the whole "computer phone" idea like manufactures thought.
The article is actualy only 2 pages, the remaining 27 is eye candy on cases that you can go to an actual web store and see. Some are neat though with luminated keyboards and mice. I only looked @ a few pages after the the first 2. There isn't any other paragraphs to describe or prices. Mostly just images. You can find them on e-bay or froogle looking for luminated keyboard or mice or custom cases.
I would think the hardware in the case is more important for a gamer. A case doesn't provide power and storage, it just provides a place to put it. Go buy a metal slide on case with a a plastic face plate, perferably a decently large one, and cram all your hardware in that. I never really understood why to pay $100 or more for a case with a window and lights. Even @ LAN parties...the hardware is more important.
Could Sun be using this to eventually get to the desktop, or at the very least, allowing companies to run a complete linux system. Solaris server, Ubuntu clients for the employees?
We run spuhl coling machines. I'm definitely sure that RF interference is a problem from all the consoles on the machines. But again that's implementing it properly. With that much intereference, it shouldn't be on the floor at all. Pluse I'm not entirely sure the scanners we use aren't interefering as well.
We run wireless @ the plant I work in and it seems to not be fully dependable. I'm not a big fan of wireless, not for the security, but because of the little things that can take it out. It can be more productive if implemented correctly, but there's alot to keep in mind when you do this.
If all the i-mode players adopt Windows DRM, that gives Microsoft access to a significant chunk of the mobile market.
Won't the government have a problem with this? Again they're squeezing out the competition due to it's monopoly status? Of course all companies can compete with each other, but when you get into the power that MS has and you start essentially killing off competition, well that's just wrong.
I doubt that. OS would see this, rightfully so, as a way into the desktop market. OS's general attitude may be anti-Microsoft, but it's not stupid. The OS Community knows this this would be a great way to get to the very people it wants to convert because of how popular MS really is.
I may be wrong, but some of those ip's are spoofed. If you send a receipt then the person who's ip is being spoofed would get the notice, and then they would know something isn't quite right?
It would be nice if businesses would set their email with received receipts. If my ISP ever sends a message to me, they always have it set that I have to send a receipt back when I've read or deleted it. I suppose a spammer could do this, but wouldn't that make it more traceable?
I don't get it. What are you trying to say by asking that? Are you arguing this is a bad idea and saying "Why stop there?" as in this wrong?
This is a good idea and to be able to cross reference and get multi sources is wonderful. I'm all for it. Not to mention it's great for college students who just can't get to the library because they need to work to pay for the text books and food while at college. It's open 24/7. Of course the other end of the spectrum is it's an excuse to wait til the last moment because they don't have to worry about the book being checked out.

THat's why, if you look to your left, you'll see a history of the stories posted. Look for the title 'Older Stuff'.

For me MS is doing the right thing here

wouldn't it be better to just use a zip disk type device? Like it iomega i-drive?

Where did I say drifter? I said it's good to have a back up plan in case something doesn't work out. That's just common sense planning.

Now some's thumb drive will be missing...or they got lost in their pants in the washing machine?
This just seems to spell trouble. I can only imagine some bank manager "now where did I put that thumb drive...."
