I used to do a lot of rebates and have found that over the past year, a much greater percentage of rebates are NOT being fufilled.

I think that GETTING a rebate is an anomaly these days!

The ISP is selling Internet service to the customer. The customer has a REASONABLE EXPECTATION that the service will be usable for ALL (non harming) Internet uses. Punitive port filtering is not only bad, it could leave the ISP that does it vulnerable for a HUGE lawsuit if for example their port blocking (which was done with no advance notification to the customer) resulted in bodily harm because the subscriber could reach police, fire, etc. But, if I read the consent decree above, arbitrary port blocking for punitive purposes has now been judged illegal by the FCC.

If I recall, the motion picture industry had a record year in 2003, and is on track to have 2004 be even better.

Yet, more people then ever before have no health insurance, more children then ever are starving, AIDS is running rampant all over Africa, American kids are dying every day in Iraq because the govt. can't provide the proper armored vehicles, more Americans are homeless then ever before, people are having heart attacks from Aleve, gas and heating oil is almost twice what it was a year ago, and on and on.

    What a SCAM!

The only way that ANY legit p2p service/program can ever work is by charging a flat rate for 'all you can download'. Or at least have a two tiered system where the Billboard top 100 sells a la carte, but once a song falls off the top 100, it moves into the flat rate category. This is basically the model the movie industry uses. New films are exhibited in theatres for a premium price, but once their popularity starts to wane, they move to HBO and DVD. Also, lose the DRM! If you don't, your plan is doomed to FAIL. Someone will crack it anyway! Accept the fact that while some theft is inevitable, the majority will do the right thing and sign up. Besides, despite what you say in all your RIAA bullshit rhetoric, most of the people who download now wouldn't be buying the song anyway.

A bunch of us signed on with him too. After a year or two, (and several hundred tube sales lost; these suckers cost thousands by the way) the Manager said: ENOUGH! What can I do to re-gain your trust? That company now provides the best service of all tube companies. The moral of the story? Don't just hit 'em in the pocketbook - TELL THEM you are!

CPU = AMD Athlon XP 2400+ with fan and 3 year warranty. CPU overclocks to 2.2 gHz, making the chip run as if it was a 3200+

CD ROM: Kyphermedia 52X CDRW. $9.95 after rebate at Office Max. 200 CD's and 100 CD jewel cases free after rebate at Office Max.

Video card: ATI 32 meg 4X AGP. $25.00 including shipping from Newegg.

    Floppy Drive: $9.95 at Fry's.

Keyboard and mouse: Belkin KB and optical mouse. KB was free after rebate; mouse was $9.95 with $5.00 rebate. Office Max.

Modem: Winmodem. Free after 10 dollar rebate at Office Max

Speakers: Yamaha 2.1 60 watt from Amazon.com $10.00 including shipping

Operating system: Linspire v4.5. Free Download from Fat Wallet.

    Office suite: Free from openoffce.org.

    TOTAL: (approx) $225.00

I could have saved about $40.00 by going with 256 Megs of RAM instead of 512 megs, not using a floppy drive and using a 40 gig hard drive.

This system is a KILLER! It is extremely fast and stable - even overclocked to a 200 meg bus speed (3200XP speed).

Once your child is 4 - 6 months old, find a good babysitter you can trust and take your spouse out on a date at least every other week. Forget about having any outside life together the first six months; it just isn't gonna happen! And, finally, enjoy your new baby. Kids rock, no matter what size they are.
